Unexpectedly, Joan passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at the age of 78.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jim; her three sons and their spouses Dave and Deborah, Rob and Daniel, Blair and Larissa; her four grandchildren Jonathan, Elijah, Greer, and Sage; her brother Donald and his spouse Patti, her sister-in-law Sydney, and sister-in-law Pat; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and many dear friends. Joan was predeceased by her sister Susan, and her brothers David (Pat) and Jim (Sydney).

Sharing the details of her life, loves, and many contributions to community, Joan will be celebrated by family and friends on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 10:00 am at First United Church, 721 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s name to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, www.kghfoundation.com.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Joan’s untimely passing. She was always so caring for others and was a great support for me and my late husband. My sincere condolences to Jim and the family.
I was so sorry to hear of Joan’s passing. She was a very special lady. She made me feel so welcome when we moved to Kelowna four years ago. She will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom passing. Although we met only a couple of times, she was kind and thoughtful and spoke to me as though she had known me for years. All the wonderful things people have shared about her here, she has passed on to her family. My condolences to all of you.

I was very fortunate to have worked with Joan when she was the Weekend Supervisor in the Department of Nursing at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg and I was the Weekend Secretary. I will always remember her warm and friendly manner and how welcome she made me feel. Thinking of you at this difficult time.

I worked with Joan in the Intermediate Care Nursery at HSC in Winnipeg. She was one of my favourite people to work with. Such a kind gentle person. We always had such lovely talks during our shifts together. I have thought about her fondly through the years My thoughts and prayers are with you.
