To the Hatanaka Family,
Sorry to hear the passing of Jack. Our condolences to All.
Growing up in Kelowna, Jack was the always smiling, joking, happy-go-lucky gentleman with that Cheshire cat expression! Even though he was older than me, he always had time for conversation or to share a joke. We will miss those conversations when we come back to the Temple for our family get-togethers.
Rest in peace Jack.

Dear Sheri and family,
I wanted to share my heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family upon the passing of your father. I never had the chance to actually meet him in person, but reading what other people have said you can see what an impact he made on the community and those who were fortunate to know him. Hello Marge & Family,
We just heard of Jack’s passing, our deepest condolence to you. We shall miss him dearly and remember his smiling face and laughter. I was privileged to have known Jack since 1951 when we moved to Kelowna. We were in the Kelowna Buddhist Temple Boy Scouts together, the Y.B.A.,& as well as we graduated together from KHS in 1957. Sorry for your loss and please take care.

Dear Margie, Bob, Michi, Mrs. Hatanaka and family, my deepest sympathy to you. I share in your loss.
I enjoyed knowing Jack for 74 years. I first met Jack taking the Glenmore school bus on our first day of school. We spent a lot of good times together, from being in the same grade one class and all the way to the day of our high school graduation. Also, in our youth, I remember many enjoyable times in Glenmore with Jack, Bob, and friends playing games, going to movies, and roaming the hills seeking adventure.
Later in adult life, Jack and I would meet many times and talk about outdoor adventures of fishing hunting, travelling, and shared life experiences. He was always in good spirits and had a good sense of humour. He was always willing to help fix my car. I appreciated Jack and Margie’s hospitality whenever I visited. He attended my 80th birthday party in November, 2019, and we shared many fond memories.
It was a pleasure and privilege to have known Jack as a true life-long friend. He was a great guy, a genuine one of a kind. I will really miss him. His memories live on. He will not be forgotten.

Margie, Sherry, Tamara and Nathan and the rest of the family.
My favourite memories of Jack include his wonderful sense of humour, his dedication to the BC Federation especially for horseshoes, bedrock golf and hockey pools at Manning Park Family Retreat. His passion for life and all that it offers I is truly inspiring. We’ll miss his smile, his deliveries of Kelowna Buddhist Temple apple pies and iconic mooseroni.
Our sincerest condolences to all of Jack’s family and friends. Thank you for sharing him with us all.
My deepest condolence to you and your family. We will truly miss Jack’s great sense of humor including all of his Newfy jokes !!! I still remember them after all of these years. Jack would alway come to the Manning Park Temple Camp who in my mind was the reason for going in the first place.I think of Jack as one of my mentors who showed me how to enjoy life and to always volunteer at the camp and get everyone involved. He would be the first person at our Dharma Juice Reception and be the last one to leave. He would alway phone me up to take my order of apple pies for his temple’s fund raiser and bring them to Vancouver for many years. We all love you Jack !!!!
