We Remember
KOPP, Emily (née Shewchuk)
January 3, 1931 — June 18, 2020
Emily Kopp (Shewchuk) passed peacefully at the age of 89, June 18th, 2020, with family at her side. Predeceased by her husband, Walter Kopp, her siblings Mike, Mary, Kay, Joe, Rose, Anne, and Helen. She is survived by son Murray (Christina) of Kelowna and her daughter Joanne (Carey) of Calgary. She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren, Ryan, Jenny, Owen, Matthew, and Kimberly. Emily will be remembered from all that knew her for lovingly caring for her family and grandchildren; being a gracious host; holding Sunday dinners (with of course mashed potatoes); volunteering her time with the church or community; travelling to various places; and always extending a helpful hand.
Prayers will be held Monday, June 22, at 6:00 pm and a Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 23, at 2 pm with Father Gabriel Chinnaperiannan presiding, at St. Charles Garnier Parish located at 3645 Benvoulin Rd, Kelowna, BC V1W 4M7
A celebration of Emily’s life and interment will take place July 17 at 11:00 a.m., Eden Brook Cemetery, 24223 Township Rd 242, Calgary, AB.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 300-828 8th Ave W, Vancouver BC, V5Z 9Z9 (https://alzheimer.ca/en/bc).
The family wishes to extend special thanks for the gracious care and attention shown by all the staff at Mountainview Village.
Although Emily is gone, she will remain in our hearts forever.

Emily was my aunt. Her story is the story of our nation. Born into the great depression and raised in very hard times on a northern Saskatchewan farm, she was a good natured prairie gal who’s smile and laughter shone through it all. We will all miss her terribly.

Please know that our hearts are with you as you, as you reflect on the precious memories of your dear mother, Emily. I have many wonderful memories, of the time I spent at your house during the Calgary Stampede many moons ago,
Aunt Emily was always so kind, patient and loving!! I will truly miss her!!
