We Remember
GRAY, Rhoda Elizabeth
—
Our dear Mom/Grandma passed away on December 11, 2020 at the age of ninety. Rhoda was predeceased by her husband Almon “Joe” Gray. She will be greatly missed by her children, Michael Gray, Gerald Gray (Karen), and Patsy Gillis (Jeff), as well as her grandchildren Neil Gray, Myles Gray (Tia), John Gillis (Kayla), and Calum Gillis. She is also survived by her brother Ron Ritchie of Summerland, BC.
The daughter of pioneers, Florence and Scotty Ritchie, Rhoda grew up in Summerland. After marrying, she and Joe moved to Beaverdell, BC, where Joe began a sawmill business and where their children were born. The next stop was Glenmore Valley, where they farmed for many years. Their retirement was spent RVing throughout the US and Mexico as well as many trips abroad.
This last year held many challenges but all were met with her great optimistic and positive spirit; she has been an inspiration to us all and a beautiful soul – inside and out. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her Sunday morning breakfast friends.
Many thanks from Rhoda’s family to all her caregivers at Hawthorne Park and the Kelowna General Hospital as well to all the medical staff involved.
There will be a private family gathering at a later date.

Dear Michael, Gerald & Patsy. So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I have such fond memories of our families waterskiing and snow skiing together. She was such a warm and kind person and so connected with people. She always had a kind word or gesture. Please let me know when you have a memorial service as I would very much like to honor her memory. Sincerely, Darlene

Sorry to hear of Rhoda’s passing, she was a lovely lady. I was lucky enough to housesit for them for 18 months whilst they did some travelling at the end of the 90’s. Joe and Rhoda were very kind to me and I will always have fond memories of the two of them. RIP Rhoda.
