To my loving Dad,
You were a very kind person who helped soo many people in need. You were a very successful business man who worked hard. You earned soo much love and respect. You were well known in the community.
You left your blueprint in my mind, your handprint on my heart and your imprint on my soul. A special man like you, God makes them very rarely. I am soo proud to call myself your daughter (‘Dimpy’) and I will forever remember you Dad, with silent tears. I will miss you beyond measure, I will miss the sound of your voice, the stories you told and the ring of your laugh.
Dad, your guiding hand will be on my shoulder forever. You lived a very good life, like a king and you will be always my king. I will miss you forever.
My Daarji • Sardar Darshan Singh Johal 🦁
Your life is a story I shall tell for generations to come.
From growing up during Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s revolution of India’s independence. Then facing the partition of India, and having to bravely trek across Pakistan to Punjab, to start your life over again in your teenage years. Then having to endure the painful events of the 1984 Blue Star Operation, and its aftermath; to the present ongoing Farmers Protest. You had been through and seen so much in your lifetime.
During all this, you raised the most beautiful family and became one of the most successful, well renowned businessmen in Phillaur, Punjab where the whole community admired and respected you.
You taught us many values such as being kind, honest and helping those in need. You were loved and respected by many. We salute you for setting the highest example of what it means to be a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and human being.
I am so proud of you and what you had achieved; and so lucky to have had such a great role model in my life. Although you may not be with us anymore, your blood runs through all of us.
Rest in peace my beloved Daarji 🙏🏽🤍🕊
Grandpa was kind, he was honorable, he was charismatic, sweet, and he was so loving and giving. He cared with a passion unlike anything that I have ever seen. Grandpa worked hard at everything he put his hands on. He touched so many. He was truly an incredible man. He loved life and his family so much. I hadn’t realized it until now, that life is a lot shorter than any of us realize and you just don’t know what you have until it’s gone. He was great and I miss him terribly. He taught me so much, so many lessons in life. Grandpa always looked down at his hands and told us that, “as long as you have these two hands, anything is possible.” And now I realize what he meant and how anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself. Grandpa was truly the best. He was a great role model. Grandpa taught everyone to be passionate, hard-working, and never give up. Most of my childhood memories with him are tinged with traces of humor and laughter. It was so much fun to be with him; he loved to laugh and to have fun. My grandfather truly did live a life that was full of joy, and happiness. Grandpa, I’ll always think of you with a smile. I will miss you forever.
Dear Dhaar Ji,
Feels like it was only yesterday you were here with us, telling us stories and making us laugh. Not once did I realise that your time was near. In fact it felt like I had gone back in time, every time you visited or every time we visited you.
Be it greeting us at the door in the middle of the night in India, to greeting you and Badi Ma at our front door. I have so much to say that I have ended up having no words.
I reflect on your stories of farming, business, war, travelling and family. I learn from your teachings about honesty, hard work and care. I now take your blessing of strength, happiness and love.
I will never forget all that you’ve shared with us and will now look to the skies and stars for your guidance. Living a happy and fulfilling life, may your soul continue to be happy as you watch your future generations grow from Sach Kand.
