KANE, Donna
—
We are heartbroken to announce that Donna Kane, 68, passed away suddenly in her home on March 14, 2021. We have lost the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her energy always lit up the room. She was a loving, caring and selfless person who will be greatly missed by all who crossed her path. Donna spent most of her free time tending to her incredible garden, which was full of all varieties of vegetables and fruit. She had flowers everywhere, and loved butterflies. Born and raised in Alberta, Donna was an avid Edmonton Oilers and Kelowna Rockets fan, and made sure to watch every game she could.
She leaves behind her husband, Edmund Brown; her children, Melanie Taylor (Jon) and Brandon Kane; and her grandchildren, Emily, Josh, and Emma. She is also survived by her brother, Brian Harvie (Debbie).
A Celebration of Life will be held by invitation only due to the current pandemic restrictions, however, the family would like to invite all to join online via Livestream on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 4:00 pm. A recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, smoke some flower (420) and cheers to Donna.
If you wish to send a condolence, post photos, or share a memory please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.

I am shocked how one so full of life as Donna was…so generous of heart…is no longer here to brighten this world…My deepest sympathy to her family…she was a strong presence that landed on my table once a month for many years with laughter, stories, deep snoozes and gratitude….I will miss her presence very much and I am inspired to ‘seize each day’ in her honor.
Tomorrow’s are better days. Well mentioned messages, we are “sorry for loss “ but memories make sure no loss. Sad day for sure but a special person has made life better for a lot of people. My most heartfelt condolences to you, Brandon and your Families. Donna was an amazing woman and my dear friend. I will miss her. Very much. I will miss her smile and her laugh, and her upbeat positive attitude. You could not be down and be around Donna she would pick you up and before long you would be planting flowers or baking a cake. She never met a stranger and you could not find a more gracious host. You were guaranteed a fabulous meal and wonderful conversation and there was always something to do!! Goodbye my Friend. Until we meet again.
I am very sorry for your loss and wish your family strength during this difficult time.

It was an honour and such a pleasure to have had Donna in our lives. She was lively, welcoming and so very kind.. She loved gardening and was excellent at it. Being a gardener myself we talked about plants for hours. She was so excited and happy talking about plants. She also did a lot of canning and had a jar of jam as a gift for everyone. If I had a problem Donna was there, She was exceptionally non judgmental and loved everyone and they loved her. Her family was the most important thing to her. She was so very proud of them.. Donna you were one of a kind and we will deeply miss you!💕 Love you
I am so sorry to hear of Donna’s passing. She was one of the first people I met when I started at Prospera place in the concession. She made me feel welcome and always had a smile on her face. RIP Donna.

To Donna’s Family,
We are deeply saddened to read this news.
We never met Donna in person but we had the absolute pleasure of dealing with her over the phone through our business moves and personal moves over the past 25 years. I referred many people to Donna because she was the BEST in the industry. Our condolences to all.
On behalf of the Hamilton Family and the entire Kelowna Rockets Organization both current and alumni, we send our most heartfelt condolences. Donna’s energy at the arena was second to none. There are many players that have moved on but whom she touched with her smile, generosity and always there to cheer the team on. Donna will be dearly missed.
I am still in shock over the passing of my longest closest friend. We met at Parkinson Rec Centre early 1990s. She came to my aerobics classes and became a dance instructor for children herself. Donna was full of life and never sat down.. worked very hard all of her life. Her favorite job was the Two Small Men moving company as their Estimator. All of her customers loved her bubbly and extremely caring personality. She also made very many customers happy at Prospera Place taking beverage and food orders at those many hockey games and events. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed life to the fullest. I will forever miss my best friend. Cheryl Stone Kelowna
Your presence and the cheering in the Rocket tunnel and the smiles at the concession stand will be missed by all who were touched by her presence.
Donna has left such a lasting impression on me! Working at the arena with her she always was willing to listen so openly and respond in her kind no nonsense way. Donna was able to touch so many people with her light and joy.
We are shocked and heart broken by the news of Donnas passing. What a bright light she was and always made us smile and appreciate everyday. Her annual gift of delicious homemade jam for us and our employees will be an everlasting memory for us. We had the pleasure of servicing her pool for many years and it brought her so much joy. We will miss her laugh, her kindness, her generosity and her wisdom. Our thoughts are with Ed and her lovely family. RIP Donna….till we meet again.
So sorry to learn of your loss. Donna was a very special person always so friendly to everyone and a smile on her face. She always had a good story to tell. She brightened this world. Lin Barry

This world has lost one of its very best! Donna exemplified many of the finest attributes in being the best in this life one can be. She was kind, compassionate, selfless, generous, down to earth, excellent Mother, a true and loyal friend, nature lover, silly, super fun, positive and a good vibrations kinda gal.
Whenever I think of you, Donna, instantly a smile comes to my face. What a lovely gift. Love ya….Until Donna…..so long….just for now. Your little buddie…Suzie Howard Memory

Love from our family to yours
Melanie, Brandon, Ed, and family . We are truly sorry for your loss and saddened to hear of Donna’s passing.
Donna’s bubbly personality had a way of making good times even better no matter the occasion. We have especially fond memories of Donna at Christmas time and jokingly called her Mrs. Christmas. Donna was a one in a million friend who at the drop of a hat and a couple of days notice was my maid of honor who helped put our wedding together in Reno. She will always be remembered as a friend and confidant and will surely be missed by all who knew her.

Our deepest sympathies to her family.
This one’s for you Donna. Will miss our coffee sessions.
Thank you for being such a wonderful neighbor and friend.

It’s tough to narrow down a favorite memory, having spent a significant part of my teenage years at her house, But I will say I always had good time, even after I was banned from the Famous Amos cookies (after eating several cases each over several weeks). Years later, my kids remember her for the popcorn and drinks at the Arena.
She will be Missed

Donna was my best friend for 31 years. We always talked about going on a trip somewhere warm, guess we’ll do that in Heaven when I get there in 45 years. Donna and I were always there for each other through thick and thin. Our lives were so intertwined we knew to call each other in good times and bad. Impromptu dinners, watching the stars, gardening, canning all sorts of goodies, Christmas baking and making decorations at Church where she made so many people laugh by calling out “where’s my Jeannie Wienie?” and eating 5 different pieces of pie!! Oh how we laughed!! Working at Prospera and slinging beer while laughing our fool heads off and working hard while sneaking peeks of the entertainers and Rocket Games!! I cherished you then and I do now! My Children and grandchildren will know your name and the love which you do freely gave.
Thankful to have such a loving Auntie, I will always remember all my sleepovers at your house!! Miss you already and was looking so forward to seeing you again this summer. Hugs to Melanie and Brandon ❤️ My thoughts are with you tomorrow xoxo. Till we meet again Auntie Donna!!! Smile !!!
Melanie and Family, we are so sorry for your loss. We are sending healing thoughts and comforting hugs during these difficult times.
My heart goes out to you all, especially today. I’ve have some wonderful memories of times spent with Donna over the years. Her kind heart and amazing personality will be two of the things I will remember the most about her. She had such an amazing presence when she came into a room and you always knew when Donna was around because she lit up the room. She was one of those people who no matter who you were, made you feel special She would take the shirt off her back to help anyone/everyone. I’m so grateful for the time I spent around her and she will be truly missed by so many. The earth lost a precious soul but heaven gained a beautiful angel and I know she’ll continue to help so many from where she is now.
It is difficult to put into words the loss we feel, Donna was such an integral part of our family, the phone calls, the visits to Kelowna and all the laughs and memories made along the way. Our deepest condolences to Melanie, Brandon, Brian, Debbie, Chad, Trevor, Ed and all those who Donna touched their lives. She will be greatly and fondly missed. XO….
Our thoughts and prayers go to all who were in Donna’s circle of family. Donna was always a caring and giving person. We will miss her spirit of love and kindness to all she met. May all of us take forward her joy of life and live and be comforted in and by knowing her.
We are very sad to hear about Donna’s passing. She was always a joy to work with, her enthusiasm and dedication to the moving industry and bubbly personality will truly be missed. We are sending heartfelt thoughts to your family. She will always be missed by everyone that knew her.

I would like to express my sorrow and condolences to the family. May you find the strength to bear this great loss.
Thinking of Donna’s family on this day. There are no words to describe the emotions that are held in my heart for her. She has been the best neighbour, big sister (by heart) and friend. My girls and I will miss you greatly. Karen, Heather and Courtney.
Dear Melanie & Brandon:
I was truly saddened to learn of the passing of your Mom. I first met Donna while in my mid 20’s when she was raising you in St. Albert. She had the gift to make everyone she met feel important and that you were immediately bonded in friendship. Her hearty laughter and immense energy was infectious. I will always have a fondness in my heart for Donna. My heartfelt condolences to you Mel & Brandon and your families.
It’s hard to choose a favourite memory of my Auntie Donna. From the summers spent with her in Kelowna, going to the beach and enjoying her delicious meals, to listening to her amazing stories and wicked laugh. She lit up rooms and was the most positive and upbeat person I knew. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone and filled everyone’s lives with her love, joy, and positivity. She was so hard working and taught me many important life lessons. I will forever remember her for who she was. This world has lost such a beautiful soul but heaven has gained an angel. It’s been almost 3 years and not a day goes by where I don’t think of her. I just hope she knows how loved and cherished she was and still is. I know you’re still out there, watching over us, and continuing to give your love to your family- I can feel your presence and all the love you still have to offer. Just know that I love you and always will. I’ll never forget you and I know we will meet again some day. For now, rest easy. I love you Auntie Donna. Thank you for showing me how to love myself, despite my flaws, and for loving me, unconditionally. You will forever be loved and remembered.
All the love,
Shelby ❤️
