1920 – 2022

Our wonderful husband, father, and friend peacefully left us behind on February 28, 2022, at 101 years young, and our world will never be the same.

The loss leaves our family devastated, but our love will always live on. He leaves behind his wife Sharon of 49 year; daughter Leslie (Leigh Ramsden) and granddaughter Lauran; daughter Crystal (Brendon Vigue) and granddaughters Leia and Shay; nieces Sharon (Bill) and Pat (Ken, predeceased); son from a previous marriage Glen of Vancouver, BC. He is predeceased by his father Erdman, mother Margaretha, beloved sister Hilda, brother Jack, and sister Marie.

Born December 22, 1920, in Rosenfeld, Manitoba, Norm definitely saw a lot of changes and lived an amazing life. He was the youngest in his family and was called “little Norm” by his beloved mother even when he came into the world at 11lbs. When his family moved from Manitoba to Saskatchewan, Norm worked on a farm in Rush Lake as a young boy, always making sure he ran home for the night to be with his family rather than stay in the barn alone. A Veteran of WWII, he signed up for the RCAF as a young man and served in Linton-on-Ouse, England. After the war, he came back to live in Vancouver, BC and got a job with the Federal Government working in the Finance Departments at the Department of National Defence, Department of Supply & Services, and eventually the Department of Indian & Northern Affairs. When he retired from the government, he took on a business adventure and moved his family to Kelowna, BC. Retirement and resting were never part of Norm’s vocabulary, and he went on to work for the Westbank First Nation as their Administrator, then as manager of the construction Company, WIBCO. Even when that came to an end, he worked at Renaissance Architecture to keep busy, which was his nature in life – always busy and doing a job well done.

Norm was proud of his home and worked tirelessly over the years, with the same work ethic as he did everything else in life, to make his family a great place to live. Forever finding something to fix, paint or repair, he built many a fence and even mowed the lawn up until the age of 93. It was his home to share and enjoy visits with family and friends – a place to laugh and listen to music which brought him so much joy. All were special to him, but he adored his granddaughters. The twinkle in his eye always let on he was up to some sort of mischief and fun. Beyond all, he loved and always had faith in his Vancouver Canucks – their most dedicated fan right from the very start.

Norm was a true gentleman, one-of-a-kind, forever young. A good man. “Good Show” will resonate with everyone who knew and loved Norm.

A Celebration of Life to honour Norm will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canuck Place or Variety the Children’s Charity.
