We Remember

ATKINSON, Noah James

May 28, 1999 — August 6, 2022

On behalf of the Atkinson family, we are devastated to announce the unfortunate and sudden passing of their beloved Noah Atkinson in a tragic accident on August 6, 2022.

Noah has been incredibly blessed with a tight-knit immediate family: his parents Dave Atkinson & Lani Atkinson (née Belmore), and his siblings Tyson (Dylon) and Aiden, along with many close extended family members: grandparents Jim & Sally Atkinson and Steve & Joy Belmore; Uncle Ray & Aunt Lorelei (née Atkinson) Matthews, and cousins Ethan, Isaac, and Jessie; Aunt Lois Atkinson; Uncle Keith & Aunt Lori (née Belmore) Anderson, and cousins Rachel and Eyan; Uncle Paul & Aunt Robin Belmore, and cousins Von and Bella; and many other great aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Noah had many passions that included snowboarding, hockey, guitar, listening to country music, working on his dirt bikes, and spending time with his family, friends and new puppy Goose. He had the ability to brighten anyone’s day with his infectious smile. As of recent, he even grew an impressive beard that he was so proud of. His curiosity and larger than life personality will be missed by many.

Noah was a dedicated student at the University of Saskatchewan. Noah graduated with his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering in the spring of 2021. He then went on to pursue his Master’s degree in electronic materials and microfabrication while working on his fellowship at the Canadian Light Source Lab with the INSPIRE grant. Noah was extremely passionate about his educational pursuits and has left a lasting impression on his fellow students and faculty members.

In lieu of flowers, an Electrical Engineering Scholarship will be created in his memory, contributions can be made at gofundme.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Noah Atkinson on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:30 am (MDT) at Westside King’s Church, 3939 69 St SW, Calgary, AB, with livestream available (see below for the livestream).

Condolences

  • Rose Zbirun says:

My heart is so sad in learning of Noah’s passing. Praying for the comfort of Jesus to blanket you all and hold you close.

  • Barb Speiser says:

Our granddaughter is a few years behind Noah in Electric Engineering. He was very helpful to her & graciously shared his notes. I watched his memorial service online today. He seems like an amazing guy. My heart is very sad for all of you & I’ve been praying for you all.

  • Adam Lowenberg says:

I met Noah in the autumn of 2011, when we started attending Vincent Massey. He was always so full of joy and laughter, it was quite contagious. Though we were never that close, we did share the same home room and core subjects in grade 7. I’m so saddened to hear of his sudden passing, and my condolences for the family during this time.
