We Remember

HARDING, Douglas Randolph

1966 – 2022

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Douglas Randolph Harding, who went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2022. He is survived by his mother, Eloise Harding; his siblings Leslie Tochor (Les), Patricia Donnelly (Todd), and Daniel Harding (Kelly); father-in-law Carl Bohs; brother-in-law Scott Kaufman (Cindy); and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Debra Harding; his father Les Harding; his mother-in-law Betty Bohs; and his brother-in-law Chris Kaufman.

Doug was born in Peace River, Alberta. He grew up in several Canadian provinces, and also lived in Virginia, USA for two years when he was a toddler. Doug had an inquisitive mind and a love for travel. In between pursuing his post-secondary education, he travelled extensively with friends. After spending time exploring various parts of the world, he lived in Victoria, BC. Then, he moved to Vancouver, BC to attend BCIT’s Forest Technologist program. Doug was offered a management role in the forest industry in Kelowna, BC, which triggered a move to Lake Country, BC. He made Lake Country his permanent home with his wife Deb, along with their several beloved dogs. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Specialization with distinction from Okanagan College. Doug worked in management in the area of sales and marketing since obtaining his degree.

Doug had a passion for the outdoors. Some of his favourite times were spent hiking with his wife and dogs; camping; golfing; hunting; boating; and lake, river, or ocean fishing. Doug was a natural athlete who picked up new skills with ease. He developed a love for downhill skiing later in life and spent special times skiing in BC with friends and family.

Doug was a fun uncle who had a playful spirit that his nieces and nephews loved. His great sense of humour, quick wit, and outstanding memory led him to be a very captivating and entertaining storyteller. Doug’s most precious role was that of husband to the love of his life, Deb. They had a special bond between them that he deeply cherished. We take great comfort that Doug and Deb are together once again.

Doug will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the MS Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
