This is our selection room. The key word there being selection.

We like to make sure that every family that we deal with, feels completely in charge and in control of their funeral arrangements. This decision is one of the last ones made here after our funeral arrangement conference.

If you’ve selected burial – or cremation – you’re gonna find that there is a lot of variety for you to pick from. We have a lot of people who wish to just keep things very simple.

I’m proud to say that my father, even years in advance, was able to foresee the popularity of cremation. We have a cremation orientated section, with a wide variety of caskets to pick from, and also urns.

We’ve also found that a lot of people nowadays are concerned about the environmental impact of their decision. I know it’s counter-intuitive, but burial is more environmentally friendly than cremation. To address that, we’ve offered simple cremation containers, biodegradable options, scattering options and even in-house memorialization options that a lot of people seem to like.

Something I’ve personally found over the years, giving a family an option – regardless if they’ve chosen burial or cremation – to have them bring something in and place with their loved one as a final farewell, has been really well received.

I see quite often the grandchildren wishing to draw grandpa or grandma one last picture, somebody write them a letter to get some feelings that they wanted to express. Be it a deck of cards; a golf ball that they got a hole-in-one in. When I’ve given that option, I’m always startled and surprised with what comes in. I…I remember one lady – she was sheepish about it – but she did bring in the TV remote control. She said, “He always had to have it, he might as well take it with him.”
