We Remember
HAGEL, Susan “Sue” Anne
June 10, 1952 — January 27, 2023
On January 27, 2023, Susan Anne Hagel passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC, while surrounded by love and family.
Born on June 10, 1952, Sue was raised in Beiseker, AB, where she met her best friend and future husband, Thomas John Hagel. In 1972, Tom and Sue got married and for the next several years they worked very hard and started their own business in addition to starting a family. In 1984, they moved to Brooks, AB, where they continued to grow their business and raise their boys. In 1989, the family moved to Three Hills, AB, where they all made lifelong friends. Then in 1993, Tom and Sue moved to Winfield, BC, where they owned and operated the Woodsdale General Store until retiring in 2015.
Not only was Sue a hardworking and dedicated wife and business owner, but she was also an incredibly devoted and loving mother, always putting family first. She had a soft demeanour, a warm and caring nature, and a great sense of humour and loved to laugh.
Sue is survived by her sons, Shawn Levecque (Kristina), Cassidy Hagel (Andrew), and Chris Hagel (Amber); grandchildren, Ethan Levecque, Kyra Hagel, and Kayden Hagel. She is also survived by her siblings, Gerry Schmaltz (Nancy) and Tom Schmaltz.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I really got to know Sue as her neighbour the last few months before she moved out of the townhome complex. we had a lot to share with each other in the short time we hung out with each other, and i truly thought she had a wonderful soul. I’m sad to see how she was so troubled and heartbroken with Tom dying. My condolences to all 3 sons.
