We Remember

POLACIK, Raymond Thomas

October 23, 1945 — July 13, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Raymond Thomas Polacik on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Raymond was born in Michel/Natal, British Columbia on October 23, 1945.

Raymond was predeceased by his father Thomas Polacik; his mother Lica Polacik; and his nephews, Rick Field and Rod Field; as well as numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by the love of his life for 59 years, Lindy Mae Polacik (née Field); his brother Gordon (Stephanie); his son Trent (Shannan); his grandchildren, Megan (Benjamin), Riley (Kayshia); as well as by his brothers-in-law William “Billy” Field and Terry (Gena); and his nephew Derek Polacik (Danielle) and his niece Tara Seabrook (Shawn).

Raymond grew up in the Michel/ Natal area loving sports and the outdoors. He played hockey, basketball, and judo. In his early adult life, he also enjoyed coaching basketball. Anyone who knew him from those days will tell you, if he made the team do it, he did it too.

Raymond spent his early adult years living in Coleman, Alberta, working for the sawmill in Michel. During this time, he met Lindy. They married and soon welcomed their only son, Trent. Raymond then started working at the school in Coleman before eventually moving to Sparwood, BC, to work for Kaiser Resources (Westar). After an accident, he returned to school for accounting and continued working for Westar until 1988. That year, Ray and Lindy relocated to the Okanagan, where they purchased Freezer Meats & Deli in Lakeview Heights. After several years, they sold the business and both joined Quality Greens until their retirement.

Raymond was as social as they come; he often liked to visit with family and friends, have a drink or maybe a glass of wine. He enjoyed skiing, golf, waterskiing, and boating. He loved going on road trips, whether it be for Trent’s hockey or just for a drive. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. No matter what it was, soccer, hockey, or Lacrosse, Ray was there when he could be.

With a constant positive attitude, Ray’s smile and laughter were infectious.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
