We Remember

JOHN, Helene Madelon (née Hollett)

Helene John passed away at home on August 10, 2024, after a long illness.

Helene was the oldest of seven children born to Lorraine and Hedley Hollett in Manitoba.  The Hollett family moved to Lethbridge, and finally in 1952, they moved to the Village of Montrose, BC, where Helene grew up.

Helene enjoyed summers at Deep Lake, with her children and friends; watching her brother Gerry play baseball; and attending local hockey games. Helene and her family made Kelowna home 35 years ago, and the John household became the place to go for both the Hollett and John families.  Dave and Helene always had a full house, a boat on the lake, a chair by the pool at Manteo, and made everyone feel welcome.  If there was a reason for a party, you can be sure that Helene was there to instigate the plan, and her husband Dave was there, making her plans come to fruition.  Even in her last days, Dave was kept busy making her wishes happen.

She leaves behind her darling husband David; son Todd Hollett and daughter Jennifer (Ben) Kuntz; and grandson Ben Jr.; as well as her sisters, “the original Hollett girls”: Carol (Wayne) Cournoyer, Sharon (Rob) Ross, Brenda (Tom) Nedelec, and sister-in-law, Jan Hollett.  She will be missed by David’s children, Billy and Clinton John and their families; and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & -nephews who are now too numerous to name individually, but who loved her greatly.  She was predeceased by her parents and her three brothers Ron, Bryan, and Jerry.

Her optimism, generosity, and enthusiasm will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her life will be celebrated in a small service at a later date.
