We Remember
HUPPER, Donald Joseph
August 16, 1950 — August 10, 2024
On August 10, 2024, in his Kelowna, BC home, Donald Hupper passed away at the age of 73. Donald was born on August 16, 1950, in New Westminster, BC. He was a “hands-on” kind of guy with a practical yet wild approach to life.
Don’s passion for craftsmanship was evident in his work as a Welder, as well as in his love for Hot Rods & antique car shows. He also exhibited a keen interest in all types of vehicles, including off-roading.
Sociable and “salt of the earth”, Don fostered a deep connection to the community around him, everywhere he went he knew someone.
Family and friends will honour him, each in their own way. No formal service will be held.

It has been a long time since I saw Don. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. We raced 4 wheel drives together years ago. French Connection was awesome. I thought about him many times over the years. Always brought a smile to my face. Miss you.
Don was a kind man with a big heart. He loved helping people. We are going to miss our friendly neighbour.
RIP my friend . I am missing you already . Don was full of an energy and spirit that belied his age . Always friendly , always stopped at the shop for a quick beer . Always willing to help . Loved his stories . Loved the way he said ” 454″ and “Bronwen” .
Heartfelt condolences Chelsea.
Don always had a smile on his face and something nice to say. We miss seeing him driving his red jeep in the neighbourhood. Gone way too soon.
Take care. Love The Jamiesons .

Sad to hear of Don’s passing. Worked with Don for a few years at Kelowna Steel and knew Don from his days with Scherle Construction. My condolences to his family. RIP Don.
Sending condolences to his son Don Huppee (Teresa), grandchildren Colin & Megan.
Fun times with Don. Fire Department events, joy rides on the motorcycles, Harold’s New Year’s Eve Parties were legend, with our blue Malibu station wagon parked in back for the night. Don’s Christmas Tree burning parties were a lot of fun and one memorable trip to Dee Lake for an overnighter comes to mind. The party convener thought there would be bedding in the cabins but that was a faulty assumption, so, if memory serves, we ended up with Slinker’s sleeping bag, when mayhem ensued. Don used Cheryl’s toothbrush in the morning to brush his teeth with whiskey. If we were in town, after we moved, we always stopped by Kelowna Steel Fabricators to let Don know we were around. What was more entertaining and relaxing, than dropping by Don’s place for a beer and a catch up; maybe rehashing a fun memory or two? Don was quick to laugh and always made us feel welcome, when we did a drive by. We send heartfelt condolences.
Colby and Chelsea. So very sorry to hear of Don’s passing our hearts go out to you both as well as the rest of the family. Sending love and hugs.
My brother Don always had a need for speed and motor sports, from the crazy bikes he rode , to his Demo Derby cars he “roughed up” , to his power wagon ” The French Connection” that he raced in hill climbs and sand drags. He had been a welder and fabricator for years. He altered many of his vehicles, often repowering them. He enjoyed all forms of motor sports, often at the race track with his friend Dave, enjoying a few “cool ones”
He will be missed and never forgotten.
A shout out to Chelsea (his primary caregiver) from the onset of his illness, through the ” highs” and the “lows” until his last breath. Our hearts go out to Chelsea, Colby, and Donnie for the loss of their father.
Love “brother” Gilles and “sister in law” Sharon
