We Remember

WOOD, Harold

Born in Germany, August 21, 1944 – Passed away peacefully in the home he built and loved, September 26, 2024

Harold Wood, a kind and gentle soul who touched the hearts of everyone he met, passed away peacefully at the age of 80, in the home he lovingly built and cherished. Born in Germany, Harold’s journey through life took him across continents, from London to New Zealand, and eventually to Canada, where he found a home filled with love, adventure, and friendship. Harold spent many years in Vancouver, where he honed his skills as a baker, a profession that he approached with the same perfectionism that defined many aspects of his life. Whether in the kitchen or building his home, he always said, “You measure twice, cut once.”

Harold was the kind of person who never asked for anything in return. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he listened with genuine interest to the stories of those around him. In turn, he shared his own stories with a warmth and humor that made him the best storyteller in any room. His compassionate nature made him a friend to all, and he had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and understood.

An avid traveler, golfer, badminton, and tennis player, Harold embraced life’s adventures with enthusiasm. But his greatest adventure began when he met the love of his life, Nagisa, in Hawaii. The two were inseparable, sharing 52 wonderful years of marriage that were filled with love, devotion, and mutual support. Harold did everything for Nagisa, and together, they completed each other in the most beautiful way. His bond with Nagisa’s brother, Bob, grew strong over the years. The two shared a brotherly relationship, supporting and looking out for one another as family.

Harold’s kindness and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by his family, including Nagisa, Bob, and his two dear nieces, Melissa and Amanda, with whom he shared a close connection.

Though his journey on this earth has come to an end, Harold’s stories, laughter, and legacy of kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew him

There will be a Celebration of Life held in Harold’s honour at a later date. Details to be announced.
