We Remember
KOYAMA, Atsuko
July 21, 1968 — September 28, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Atsuko Koyama at the age of 56.
Born in Osaka, Japan, Atsuko’s life journey took her across Canada, and she finally settled in Kelowna in 2020.
Atsuko was a loving daughter, whose mother was her closest friend, and she carried a childlike kindness that touched everyone around her. A talented fashion designer in Japan, she later became a dedicated beauty advisor in Canada, sharing her passion for elegance and style.
Atsuko was a strong woman, known for her hard work, wisdom, and serene demeanour. Her infectious laughter and warm smile could light up any room, bringing comfort and joy to those she encountered. She had an innate ability to make people feel cherished and respected.
A lover of orchids, Atsuko found beauty in nature, which mirrored the love she shared with her partner, Jesse Batchelor, with whom she spent 17 wonderful years. Atsuko is survived by her partner Jesse, their dear little bulldog Cooper and her older brother Kikuji Koyama in Osaka.
In honouring Atsuko’s memory, we invite you to celebrate her spirit in your own way. There will be a small, intimate service for those who knew and laughed with Atsuko. Atsuko’s legacy of kindness and warmth will forever remain in our hearts.

Jesse,
You’ve been in my thoughts and prayers every day and I will continue to do so as you go through this very difficult time in your life. ❤️🙏🏻
Although I didn’t get to meet Atsuko, her smile on the photo says it all and my thoughts are with Jesse, Lindy , her family and all who love her. A candle has been lit today here in England in her memory with flowers from the garden xx
I don’t know the right words to say and I know that no message can take away your pain. But I hope our condolences brings you some level of comfort knowing that we are all thinking of you and Lindy and dear Atsuko. What a beautiful, engaging woman she was. I am enclosing a picture of Atsuko, you, Thomas and Lindy from a few years back. I have great memories of the times we spent together. We hope time brings you peace and you’re surrounded and lifted up by the ones you love most. I am so sorry Jesse and Lindy. Love to you both.

Jesse, it was always a great time to share moments with you an Atsuko. We were not as closed with you (like Richard and Breanne) but we had great memories together. Atsuko always had the best attitude and smile. Her stories were so entertaining and her sense of humour was infectious. Sending love and prayers.
Dear Jesse and Lindy: I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved wife and daughter in law. Life can be very cruel and it hurts.
