We Remember
KRISA, Geraldine “Gerri” Mary
March 8, 1937 — October 27, 2024
Geraldine Krisa passed away on October 27, 2024, peacefully in her sleep at home at the age of 87 years young, in Kelowna, BC. She is survived by her children, Christopher Krisa (Phirun), Kohbi Flor, and Kasha Krisa; grandchildren Kyla Krisa (Mike), Sadge Flor (Jordon), Jeida Flor, and Jump Luana; and great-grandchildren Everett, James, Jae, Heavyn, and Silva. She was predeceased by her parents Mike & Gladys Stefanishyn; her brother Peter Stefanishyn; and divorced spouses William Krisa (Mila) and Raymond Schwenkel.
Gerri was born in Angusville, MB, where she grew up with her brother and two sisters. After graduating high school, she taught all ages in a one-room school house.
Gerri married William Krisa (now deceased) and together they settled in Winnipeg, MB, where they had three children. Gerri became one of the first two female real estate agents in Winnipeg, a career she continued when the family moved to Kelowna, BC, in 1969. Later, Gerri remarried and spent a decade in Chicago, IL before moving to Phoenix, AZ, where she continued in real estate. In 2019, she moved back to Kelowna to be with her family once more.
While living in Phoenix, Gerri studied different philosophes and became an Ordained Minister and a Reiki Master. With her new knowledge, she generously gave her time to work in Hospice for many years. Gerri continued practising alternative methods of healing, meditating, and travelling.
An avid curler for 40 years, Gerri played as the Skip and even joined a curling league just last year. Also, well-known for her huge dinners on Ukrainian Christmas and Thanksgiving, both here in Canada and the states, Gerri’s doors were always open to many who were alone on these occasions.
Rest in peace, Mom/Grams. You’re forever in our hearts.
There will be a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

We were very saddened to hear of Gerri’s passing, as she was a very lovely lady. She was a cherished member of our Ladies Afternoon Curling Club at the Kelowna Curling Club. Our sincerest condolences,
. The Ladies of the KALCC
I am so sorry to hear about Gerri’s passing. Gerri was one of the first ladies I met last year at Ladies Curling League. She was very kind and invited me out to 97th Street Pub for a Sunday afternoon fundraiser where I met her daughter Kohbi and later in the season I met her other daughter Kasha at the curling rink. I did notice she was missing at Ladies League this year and found out about her passing on the email sent out by Kelowna Curling. Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending a big hug to everyone in Gerri’s family. She was a special lady ❤️
Gerri and I met at the curling rink and played together in the stick league and then the ladies afternoon league. She took me on as a partner even though I was new to the sport. She was always so friendly and encouraging to myself and others there. We had some good conversations over tea and occasionally a glass of wine. I miss her spirit and warm smile. Rest in peace my dear curling buddy. Xo
