We Remember
CHAMPION, Eric
January 31, 1945 — December 7, 2024
Eric B. Champion was born January 31, 1945 to Cecile and Harriet Champion, in Montreal, QC. He passed peacefully in his sleep December 7, 2024 in Kelowna, BC at the age of 79, leaving behind a lifetime of stories woven with adventure, humour, and heart.
Eric leaves behind his step-daughter Renee Faerber (husband John Fuca and son Anthony) and stepson Marc Faerber (wife Katrina Harvie-Watt and their children Jackson and Alexis), as well as his sister-in-law Sharon (née Swanson), and his nine nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 31 years, Danielle, and dear brother Terry.
Eric’s life was rich with adventure, love, and laughter. He obtained an Engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick. Most of his career was spent at The Royal Canadian Mint and the National Research Counsel. His favourite hobbies included his family cottage, his boat, and travelling. He was fortunate to see parts of the world that not many experience, through his work at the Royal Canadian Mint.
Eric and Danielle were married July 1979. Together, they navigated life’s waters, be it aboard their boat, at the cottage, or far-reaching travels, sharing sunsets and starlit skies until her passing.
Whether he was recounting an adventure turned into a great tale or making someone laugh. The world feels quieter without him, but the stories he told will echo on.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.ca.
