We Remember

TIEDE, Ruth

January 27, 1932 — December 31, 2024

Ruth Tiede went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, December 31, 2024, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Tiede, who passed away on October 10, 2013, at the age of 86.

She was born in Minitonas, Manitoba, January 27, 1932, to Daniel and Ida Elke (née Kruschel). She is predeceased by her brother William Elke (Grace), and survived by her sisters Helen (Eric Lange), Sylvia (Ace Ginter), and brother Murray Elke (Kim).

Ruth is also survived by her daughters Sandra (Michael) of Dalmeny, Sk., Caroline of Kelowna, B.C., Pearl (Ken) of Pittsburgh, USA, Faith (Barry) of Neilburg, Sk.; and sons Timothy of Marshall, Sk., and Nathan (Lee-Ann) of Kelowna, B.C.; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Sadly, she is predeceased by grandson Ian Tiede of Marshall, Sk. (d. November 17, 2017)

Ruth will be remembered for the years she spent as head cook for Bible Camps and for the Okanagan Bible College in Kelowna, and as an exceptional cook and baker all around. Her hobbies included crochet, embroidery, silk flowers arrangements, jig-saw puzzles, singing harmony, and flower gardens. Her hands were never idle.

Ruth will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was truly a woman of deep, Christian faith who prayed daily for her children and grandchildren; a worthy example for her family to emulate.

The family extends warm and sincere gratitude to the staff at The Village at Smith Creek, West Kelowna, B.C. for their kind and faithful care of Ruth.

A Memorial Service in Ruth’s honour will take place in Saskatchewan in the Spring of 2025. Details to be announced.
