Val and Lindsay. It is with shock and deep sadness that I have just heard of Derek’s passing. Such a caring and giving person has left us far too soon. I will miss him, as I am sure you do.
To the family – I do not know you but feel compelled to offer my condolences to you all. I only knew Derek through my son Kevin as Derek did his business cards. My son took sick and Derek so very kindly did posters and tickets for his fundraiser and when he passed away Derek with so much compassion helped me with all that I needed at that time. He was a gentle soul. I will always remember him for his kindness to our family at our time of grief not so very long ago.
May he rest in peace.
Betty Ann Richard and family
It was such a shock for us to hear about Derek. He was such a great person and felt that we knew him as a good friend, business and community colleague. He had a huge heart and those who got to know him even just a little knew how proud he was of his family. Rest in peace Derek. We will miss you.
Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Hold on to your happy memories. With deepest sympathy.
Val, I don’t think we ever met, I worked with Derek in Iraq & Kuwait in the early 1980’s. His name just popped into my head and I found his obit on the web. Please accept my sincere condolences, we had a lot of fun together, despite the harsh conditions of the assignment. My thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family.
We just learned about Derek. Our thoughts go out to Val, Lindsay and rest of family and friends.
Val and Lindasy,
We were so shocked to hear about Derek’s passing. It was such a pleasure to come into the shop and do business with Derek. We have always appreciated both of your support, and genuine interest in our well being. Our thoughts go out to you both.
Much love,

Dear Val and Lindsey, I just heard about Derek, I am so sorry, he was my best friend during my time in Kelowna, I could not have asked for better friend and fishing buddy. We did and shared so much together. I am lost for words and very saddened by this new. He was a great friend, super father and a wonderful husband. That I know, he loved you and Lindsay so much. I have thought of him many times since I left. I will always have the greatest memories of him.
