We Remember
ISHIKAWA, Mitsuko Barbara
—
Mitsuko Barbara Ishikawa was born February 13, 1932 in Steveston, BC and passed away in Kelowna, BC on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the age of 84 years. Mitsuko is survived by her sons, Osamu Stanley Ishikawa and Hiroshi James Ishikawa, both of Kelowna and daughter Yoshiko Ishikawa also of Kelowna. She is also survived by her sister Kazuko Cecilia Suzuki of Kelowna, a niece, nephews and extended family. Mitsuko has three grandchildren: Kevin, Eric and Sarah Kiomi and great grandchildren Seth, Gage, Olivia, Magnum and Zola Mitsuko. She is pre-deceased by her husband Hideo Ishikawa and brother Koichi Tony Hayashi.
Mitsuko was a loving and dedicated wife who worked hard alongside her husband doing farming. Mom gave all her love, time and effort towards raising her three children and managing her household. For many years she canned vegetables and fruits, made pickles and baked for her family. Both family and friends enjoyed her home cooked chow mein and sushi! In her retirement years she enjoyed visiting and socializing with her friends and also had the pleasure of a few travel opportunities within BC. With her health declining these past three years, Mom resided at Sunpointe Village where she took part in the outings and activities, of which she especially enjoyed Wednesday afternoon bingo and also assisted as a volunteer when she was able. Mom passed away peacefully at Sunpointe with her son, Hiroshi James by her side.
Interment will take place on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 12:15 pm at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue, followed by the service and reception at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, at 1:00 pm. We saw your Mom just a few weeks ago at Sun Pointe Village. She always had a great smile for us.
