We Remember
WESTGATE, Cecil Desmond (Des)
November 28, 1934 — December 2, 2016
Passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the age of 82. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Iris; son Randy; daughter Wendy; grandchildren David, (Jocelyn), Mark (Sarah), Benjamin (Prisma), Landon and Adam; great grandchildren Diego and Alonso; sister Virginia (Austin) Beattie of Chetwynd, BC; brother Jim Westgate of Chetwynd, BC; sisters-in-law Moreen Westgate, Marguerite Westgate, Audrey Westgate, Lenita Westgate, June Westgate, a large extended family and many friends. Sadly predeceased by his grandson Lonnie and siblings Dean, Byron, Vernon (Stella), Alfred, Lyle, Marie (Dale) and Arthur. Des was a kind and gentle man who devoted his life to his wife and children. He was our rock, our heart and will be sadly missed. At Des’ request, there will be no service; those who knew him understood his wish for no fuss. A family gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be,
So He closed his arms
Around you and whispered,
“Come To Me.”
You didn’t deserve what
You went through
And so He gave you rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
And when we saw you sleeping
So peaceful and free from pain,
We could not wish you back
To suffer that again.

Dear Iris and Families. My condolences to you all. My prayers and thoughts are with you at
this sad time. Remembering Des in the store in Chetwynd fondly….Denise Gray….
I remember Uncle Des as being a very quiet man from the times he and the family came to see us on the farm south of Marshall and the times we visited everyone in Chetwynd. He never said much but was always had a ready smile.
Aunt Iris and family
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Des. I remember coming for lunch breaks at the little house on the hill, when we all worked in the old IGA. These are good memories. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Aunt Iris, Randy, Wendy and families.
