We Remember

ANDERSON, David “Dave”

It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Anderson on April 14, 2022, at the age of 63. Dave passed away surrounded by loved ones after an admirable and courageous nearly five-year battle with cancer.

Dave leaves behind his loving daughters Kylie (Tyler), Lindsey (Spencer), Breanna (Kyle), and Karalee; as well as his adoring grandchildren Lane, Theodore, Miles, Rooney, and Sonny. He is also survived by brothers Ray (Deb) and Doug (Lorraine); and sisters Betty (Bob) and Debbie (Brian). He was predeceased by his parents Lewis and June; and brothers Ron and Tracy.

Dave’s thoughtful, caring nature served him well over a forty-year career as a Funeral Director. Starting in 1980, Dave spent twenty years at Westlock Funeral Home in Alberta, eventually he relocated to Kelowna, BC and became a valued team member of Springfield Funeral Home.

Dave was an accomplished athlete, completing multiple Ironman Triathlons and numerous other competitions as well. He enjoyed cycling with a close group of friends up until this past fall. Dave had a great sense of humour, an even better sense of style, and will be best remembered for his deep love of his daughters and grandchildren.

A celebration of Dave’s life will take place on THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 2022, at 1:00 PM (PDT) at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.

Condolences

  • Tara, Roger, Aiden Ernst/Siemens says:

Your Dad was so kind-hearted and it was always a pleasure spending time with him. My parents always loved his visits. Sending you all peace and love.

  • Sarah Balkenhol says:

Dear Dave’s family, I had the absolute honour of working with Dave at Springfield Funeral Home and admired Dave’s passion to serve his community with such dignity and kindness. The world has lost a very special man. I will miss talking to Dave about the latest episode of America’s got Talent and cherish all the special talks we had. My deepest condolences to Dave’s family and friends.

  • Shirley Simmons says:

💔This is so sad. Our family laid many of us to rest through the Westlock Funeral Home. My memories of Dave are that he was a kind and really nice person, who stood out with that big smile. My condolences to his family and friends. I am sorry for your loss. May he Rest In Peace. 💫

  • Denise Henstridge says:

    Family/Friends/Cycling Buddies
Words rarely communicate the sadness we feel when we lose someone, especially someone as special as Dave Anderson. I only knew this incredible person for a measly 5 years but the loss I feel knowing he is no longer with us is gigantic.
Dave was a true cyclist but he was also truly selfless. We did the Gran Fondo together in 2018 and decided we’d start and finish together. Me being barely 5ft and him well over 6ft, halfway through the ride, I lost my stamina. I told Dave to go on without me and I would meet him at the finish line. Dave doesn’t go back on his word. We crossed the finish line together. That’s the Dave I respect, love and miss.
Hold strong to the amazing memories we have all created with this wonderful man who left us much too early. Life isn’t always fair.
Rest In Peace, my beautiful friend!
    Denise

  • Greta Budgen says:

Remembering Dave with fondness. 32 years ago this year I met and worked my first funeral service as an attendant with Dave. Dave was a good mentor and I later got my license and I am still serving families with funeral service. My condolences to his girls (his pride and joy) and the rest of his family. Greta

  • Bob and Maureen Anderson says:

Our heartfelt prayers, and thoughts, are going out to all the families, and his many friends that are saddened by the loss of Dave ! Maureen and I also feel the loss of Dave, a Special Soul, that still had so much Life and Love to share !

  • PJ says:

I met Dave through a mutual friend on only two occasions, but we talked about everything as if we knew each other for ages. He selflessly shared his experience from his fight with cancer which greatly helped me at the very beginning of my own struggle. I’m sorry to have missed the opportunity to know him better. My condolences go to his family and friends that had the luck to live and spend more time with such a remarkable human being. He will be missed.
    May he rest in peace.

  • Lloyd Cooper says:

I met Dave a little over two years ago as neighbors in our condo. Sadly I did not have a lot of contact with him however our chats were always enjoyed and appreciated. He was so open and forthcoming about his struggles with cancer and was very supportive of my cousin’s experience. Please know that Dave will be remembered fondly and with regret that we had so little time together. I’m sure that you, his extended family, know far better than I what a gracious, honest, open and caring man he was. All my best to you in the future knowing that he will always be with you in your hearts, thoughts and memories.

  • Donald Galloway says:

Our prayers go out to all Dave’s beautiful girls and their families!

  • Rick Bergh says:

A good friend for so many years. So many memories. So thankful that God brought Dave into my life. We spoke about deep things the last time we visited in kelowna prior to COVID. And I told Dave that I loved him. And I do. I’m thankful that I will see him again. I just happened to be his pastor for many years during our time in Westlock, but am more thankful that I got be his friend. I will miss you Dave. Peace to your family.

  • Aum Nicol says:

We are grieving here with you. The service was a wonderful tribute to the life of your dad, brother and his friends. I am grieved for not being there for you. You all are so dear to me and I wish to hold you up in my prayers. You are the bearers of Dave’s light and we shall all carry the torch of goodness and kindness, of integrity and love so that we may continue to shine his light within our own. God bless you all. Love you!

  • Jodi Labun says:

My deepest condolences to you all. I had the privilege of working for just a brief time with your Dave. He talked so much about his beautiful 4 daughters and his grandkids. He was kind and honouring to everyone. What a light he was in this world.

  • Dana says:

Dave was a complete stranger to us when he helped my husband and I with the arrangements for my Mom’s service. Dave was so wonderful with our family that I specifically asked for him when we were helping a family make arrangements for a loved one who passed instantly in a car accident. Dave’s patient and gentle demeanor brought such a calm into that shocking and terrible scenario. Although the situations were vastly different, Dave had a professional way of making the complicated details seem so simple. Several years have passed since then but the positive impact he had in our lives never dulled. I will always be inspired by the kind-hearted strength that brought to those situations. I am sure I speak for countless others who might not be able to take the time to express their condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with your family today and in the days to come. Dana
