BARNES, Keith
February 21, 1974 — August 5, 2023
In Loving Memory of Keith Barnes. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Barnes on August 5, 2023. Keith was born on February 21, 1974, in Port Hardy, BC, to Sylvia and William Barnes. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend to many. Keith is survived by his loving family, including his brother Dennis Barnes, and other family members Greg Barnes, Robert Barnes, Lorelie Muma, Linda Barnes, and Marcia Barnes. He was also cherished by his parents-in-law, brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Keith’s presence brought joy and love to all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Keith was a dedicated journeyman electrician who took great pride in his work. While living in Edmonton, AB, he not only excelled in his career but also dedicated his time to volunteering in the community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand with electrical projects and renovations, ensuring quality work for his employers. Keith’s commitment to his community and his passion for helping others will always be remembered.
Family was of utmost importance to Keith. He cherished the time spent with his brother Dennis, eagerly assisting him with his rental business. Keith was a devoted caregiver to his mother Sylvia, taking care of her since his father’s passing. Together, they enjoyed exploring the great outdoors of the Okanagan, creating cherished memories. In his free time, Keith found joy in mountain biking, skiing, and sailing. One of his most fulfilling experiences was serving as a volunteer ski patroller. He loved being able to combine his passion for skiing with helping others.
Keith’s warm presence, caring nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honour at a later date.
May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew him. Forever in our hearts.

I send my sincere condolences during this time of sorrow. The Bible promises that your loved one will live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more. (John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4)
I am shocked at the passing of brother Keith. He was a dear friend of my family when we lived in Vernon. We had not seen him in 18 years since we moved to Ontario
Keith was a Member and Sergeant at Arms for Kelowna Toastmasters Club 2796. He was a natural performer and had a great sense of humour. He was a valued Member of our Club and his presence is greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones. Keith was a good person who tried his best and showed up. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend.
Keith was not only a valued member of the Toastmasters community but also someone who inspired us with his love for singing at Karaoke.
Keith’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire us all.
We just learned of Keith’s passing. Our loves goes out to his mom and brother.
Keith was always such a kind soul. When he would host dinner parties at his house he always made sure to have a colouring book and crayons for our daughter. He’d pick her up special juice too so she had something to drink besides water. I don’t know many single gents that would do that.
I’ll miss his gentle nature and kindness.
May flights of angels sing thee to they rest sweet prince <3
Yes, We just heard about this extremely sad news. I met Keith in 2007 at the Edmonton Outdoor Club and we became friends. Over the years we went camping, hiking and did a lot of mountain biking. Occasionally Keith and I drank some beer or Rum around the campfire in my back yard. Since his father passed away and he went home to take care of his family I didn’t see him often but we kept in touch. My condolences to his Mother, Brother and everyone else that loved Keith. This news is so saddening and shocking. Love you Buddy. Your friend Rod
Keith was a wonderful friend to us. He was one of the most unique, genuine and loyal people we’ve ever met. We enjoyed many outdoor activities with him, and a trip to the Caribbean in 2018. We will miss him.
