We Remember

BEAVER, Donald Robert

1943 – 2024

Don (aka “Beav”) passed away October 20, 2024, at Hospice in Kelowna, BC. He was born in Vancouver, BC, to Nick and Ev Beaver in 1943 and graduated Britannia Secondary and UBC, where he majored in math after discovering a talent for helping fellow students.

Don is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife Judith; his children, Jason (Lisa), Connor (Melissa) and Tegan (Tom); and grandchildren Josh, Sam, and Mabel; as well as by his brother Tom (Sharon). He is also survived by his former wives, Carol and Tami.

Don brought his love of teaching to 100 Mile House, BC, and Kelowna, teaching math first at Dr. Knox Junior/Senior Secondary and later at George Pringle Secondary until he retired in 2001. He was an active athlete throughout his life, playing and coaching a variety of sports, including hockey, soccer, cycling, running, volleyball, and working with the cross country ski school program at Telemark. His Ski to Sea team was also active for many years.

Don and Judith spent many summer months touring in their RV, which later led to spending winter months in Yuma with friends. Motorcycles were also a big love. He and Judith spent happy hours riding two up around BC and the northern US. He and his gang (Jim, Doug, and Barry) also enjoyed yearly long rides searching out all the best twisty-turnies.

We will remember Don for his passion and respect for intellect, his physical and musical talent, quirky sense of humour, love of sports and especially his deep love for his family.

That being said, please remember Don in your own way… he was so many things to so many people.

Our sincere thanks to the wonderful care given to Don by Dr. Dani Sarbit, the staff at KGH, and the compassionate care at Hospice.

No service by request.
