We Remember

BEVAN, Wallace Taylor “Wally”

April 6, 1952 — October 12, 2024

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wallace “Wally” Bevan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Wally passed away peacefully at the Kelowna Hospice House, surrounded by his devoted family.

Born in North Vancouver, BC on April 6, 1952, Wally entered the world alongside his twin brother Willy, marking the beginning of a life filled with joy and adventure.

Wally was a one-of-a-kind soul, known for his infectious humour and warm spirit. His playful, mischievous sense of fun touched everyone he encountered, from family and friends to the many co-workers he had over 46 years at the downtown Vernon Safeway.

Generosity was at the heart of who Wally was. Whether helping a neighbour in need or working on a home improvement project from his well-worn Reader’s Digest guide, Wally’s hands were always busy and his heart always open.

An avid sportsman, Wally always enjoyed the game of hockey, most recently playing with his beloved Pecan Pie team. He found joy in the outdoors, spending countless days fishing, camping, and sharing stories and laughter by the fire.

Above all, Wally’s greatest gift was the unconditional love he shared with his family, along with the companionship of his loyal dogs, always by his side.

Though he is no longer with us in body, Wally’s laughter, kindness, and generous spirit will forever remain in our hearts, offering comfort as we navigate our grief. His memory will continue to bring smiles and joy, just as he did in life.

Wally was predeceased by his parents, Jean & George. He leaves behind his loving wife Candice and his children, Christine, Marc, Kimberly (Darren), and Nicole. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

In accordance with Wally’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A celebration of his life with family and friends will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kelowna Hospice House.

    Candice,
Our sincere condolences to you and family during this time of sadness. Wal will be missed by all of us.
We were so lucky to have shared many good times over the years when you came to visit Kim and Daren in Ottawa and St. John’s and when we were in BC. Many great memories, lots of fun and laughs.
    He will never be forgotten.
Lots of love, Barb and Mike
