We Remember
BIRO, Bernard “Ben” Benjamin
September 28, 1927 — December 11, 2024
With heavy hearts we lovingly said goodbye to our father, Ben, on December 11, 2024.
Dad was born on September 28, 1927 in Stockholm Saskatchewan. He, a man of many talents, found music to be a huge part of his life, mastering 14 musical instruments. Dad had many life stories to tell including how proud he was to have played the accordion for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth I in 1939 at the age of 12. Our father was fascinated by the moon, stars and planets and so it was easy to find several well used telescopes around. He also had a passion for wood carving, jewelry making and prospecting. Dad married our mother, Anna in 1948 and together they had four children. Family was his number one priority.
Ben is survived by daughters Christine (Les) Bricker, Frances (Bruce) McMurchy, son Don (Lynn) Biro and daughter-in-law Mona Biro, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, sisters Monica Ball and Elizabeth Arneson as well as many nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his wife Anna (2013) and son Bernard Jr. (2020) and brother Alfred “Ivan” Biro (2007).
The family wishes to thank the incredible doctors and nursing staff at Kelowna General Hospital. Dad so appreciated the care you gave him.
Isten veled, nyugodj békében. (God be with you, rest in peace.)

Ahhhhh Don I am so sorry to read this news….I only met your Dad a few times but found him to be so full of life, love and such a wonderful unique person. I do know how much you and Lynn loved and cared for him and I know he knew that too. All my love and condolences to you. Love Cyn XO
Our hearts are with you all at this time.
Uncle Ben always had an instrument (usually accordion) at family Christmas or at Mom and Dad’s on the stage in the basement, Many parties were enjoyed by music.
