We Remember

BROWN, Dennis Ralph

November 3, 1934 — September 27, 2024

Dennis Ralph Brown departed this world at 89 years old, on September 27, 2024, in Lake Country Lodge Retirement and Care Community in Lake Country, BC.

Dennis was born on November 3, 1934, in Lilydale, Saskatchewan, to the late Wilfred and Esther (née Smith) Brown. At the age of 12, in 1946, his family moved to Rutland, BC, where he spent much of his life.

With a talent for music, Dennis played the trumpet, which he enjoyed playing in the High School Band and during the 1950s he was a member of the Kelowna City Band. He also had a green thumb, finding peace in his garden and yard. He spent his career first at the Rutland Sawmill and then in the transport industry, working hard to provide for his family as a local truck driver.

Dennis was deeply devoted to his wife, Anna (née Rehlinger), and their 67 years of marriage were filled with love and support. Together, they raised two children, Kathy and Steve. Dennis was always a source of encouragement, and in that way, he was always there for them. His family remember him as the “Greatest Dad”, always helping them.

Dennis leaves behind a lifetime of fond memories; he will be greatly missed by his family.

The family greatly appreciate the wonderful care and compassion given to Dennis by the nurses and care aides at the Lake Country Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada, alzheimer.ca. and Kelowna General Hospital (KGH Foundation), www.kghfoundation.com.

A private graveside service will see Dennis laid to rest at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
