We Remember

BROWN, Stephanie Ella

March 24, 1935 — June 23, 2024

It is with great sadness and a profound love that we announce the loss of Stephanie “Steffe” Brown, who passed away on June 23, 2024, at the age of 89. It was just four days after her 56th anniversary with her beloved husband, Jim.

Left to hold her dear to their hearts, is her husband, Jim; son Darren; granddaughter Shannon; as well as brother Roy Swidinsky; and nephews Kevin and Bryan. She now goes to join her son Gary, who passed before her.

Steffe’s life was marked by resilience, determination, and a deep love for both family and nature. Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, she embarked on a journey that led her to meet Jim in Vancouver, BC. Their whirlwind romance culminated in a courthouse wedding in Kelowna, BC, just three months after meeting on a memorable Wednesday in 1968. The decades that followed were filled with adventures. From building their first home together to Steffe breaking Jim out of his shell (together they formed dear friendships with neighbours and lake friends alike), Steffe and Jim were there for each other.

Steffe’s passion for animals and roses was evident, although she often found herself at odds with deer, who shared her affinity for the latter. Her beloved cats were constant companions, trailing her every step with unwavering loyalty. Known for her strong work ethic and culinary skills, Steffe humbly doubted her cooking prowess despite Jim’s adoration of her meals. At the age of 52, she pursued and achieved her Practical Nursing License with distinction, ranking among the top of her class and seamlessly transitioning into a fulfilling career. Steffe’s life was a testament to perseverance and the enduring power of pursuing one’s passions, and enjoying the sweet things in life. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

A Private Family Service will be held in honour of Steffe’s wonderful life.
