We Remember
BRUNEAU, Normand Joseph Michel “Norm”
January 18, 1964 — August 17, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Norm Bruneau announce his passing on August 17, 2023, in Kelowna, BC. He was 59 years old.
Norm was born January 18, 1964, in Peace River, Alberta. His early years were spent in northern Alberta, northern BC, and Sicamous, BC. In the early 70s, his family moved to Kelowna, BC, which became home base for most of his life. His work as a truck driver took him many places, working across BC as well as Northern Alberta. When not working, the road always led home to Kelowna.
The light of his life arrived in 1998, his daughter Danielle, whom he loved immensely. He loved spending time with his daughter, as well as his nieces and nephew, taking them bike riding, swimming, and spending hours at the playground. They have many fond memories of these times spent together.
It was no secret that for many years Norm struggled with substance abuse and addiction. Often turning to his Christian faith, he found church and prayer sessions as a source of support and strength. As a family, we know his battle is over and he has now found peace.
Norm leaves behind his daughter, Danielle: parents, Raymond and Elizabeth; brother, Daniel (Christine); and nieces, nephew, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Albert & Emelia Bruneau, and Philippe & Marguerite Fournier.
We ask that in lieu of flowers, if you feel so inclined to do so, please donate to the YMCA or The Kelowna Christian Center, which were both favourite places of Norms.
A Celebration of Life will be held on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2023, at 1:00 PM (PDT), at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. We were so sad to hear the news. Norm was great to chat with! He was a quiet gentle soul with a kind heart. Addiction is awful for those with it, fighting it and affected by it. The steely grip it had on Norm is released, he’s at peace. Heartfelt condolences to Ray, Danielle, plus all family and friends.
