BUSCH, Emma Magdalena
June 15, 1927 — June 21, 2024
Emma Magdalena Busch (née Steinhauer), late of Red Deer, Alberta, entered eternity on 21 June 2024 at the age of 97 years.
Emma was born on 15 June 1927 on the family farm near Flowing Well, Saskatchewan, the middle of three daughters, to Magdalena (née Heise) and Johannes Steinhauer. She attended Meadow School and the Saskatchewan Correspondence School before moving to Saskatoon in 1946 for vocational training and work at the Hudson’s Bay Company. In Saskatoon, she met Rudolph Jacob Busch, a student at the Lutheran College and Seminary. The couple married at Zion Lutheran, Emma’s home church, on her birthday in 1948. Their first parish was Radisson and Biggar, Saskatchewan, followed by parishes in Lethbridge, Alberta; Western Springs, Illinois; Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Edmonton, Alberta; Kelowna and Victoria, British Columbia. After 64 years of marriage, Rudy passed away on 25 June 2012 in Kelowna. Emma moved to Red Deer in 2019 where she lived until succumbing to ill health.
Emma will be remembered for her openness and curiosity, her delight in learning, her enjoyment of the company of others, her joy in living, and her gracious hospitality. Her family will remember her unwavering love and support over the decades.
Emma is survived by her children, Marcus Busch (Margaret Sadler) of Edmonton, Joanne Elverum (Glenn) of Red Deer, Timothy Busch (Victoria) of Edmonton; grandchildren Lynn Mouck (née Elverum) (Ryan) and Amy Stirling (née Elverum) (Rob) of Calgary, Carl Busch of Edmonton, and Philip Busch of Ucluelet, British Columbia; great-grandchildren Parker and Drew Stirling, and Arden and Nora Mouck of Calgary; sister Linda Weisberg of Middle Lake, Saskatchewan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
