We Remember

CHAPUT, Paul
May 5, 1948 — February 7, 2025
Our beloved Paul Chaput passed away on February 7, 2025, in Rock Creek, British Columbia, at the age of 76. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty Chaput; and his son, Terry Wallace Chaput. He is now reunited with his parents and brother Terry
Born on May 5, 1948, in Vernon, British Columbia, Paul was raised in the close-knit community of Lumby, BC, where his family was deeply rooted in the logging industry. Following in their footsteps, Paul worked as a logger and truck driver.
In June 1968, Paul answered the call to public service by joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, serving with dedication. For 14 years, he wore the red serge and kept the peace. During this time, on April 6, 1974, he married the love of his life, Betty, and together they built a life filled with love and welcomed their son. In June 1982 Paul retired from the RCMP, and they then moved to Rock Creek, BC. There, they purchased a dolomite quarrying operation and integrated into their community, building relationships that have enriched their lives from then on.
Dear Paul:
You were the guiding light of our lives, and we wish that you were still here to guide us through our everyday with your wisdom.
Although we cannot hear your voice or see your smiling face, we know deep down in our hearts that you have not left us.
Instead, every day you surround us with the singing of the birds, the rising of the sun and the falling of night.
Family and friends will honour him, each in their own way. No formal service will be held.

Are thoughts are with Betty and family, A strong willed person that was always generous to his friends and family and would always be available to give a helping hand. RIP
Betty and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Paul’s passing. I wish to pass on our sincere condolences to you and your family. I have very fond memories of Paul and you while we were posted at Westlock Detachment. Paul will be missed by everyone who him. I wish you well and may God bless all of you. Rest in peace Paul.
I knew Paul as a friend and a business associate. He was a man who relished his bear like reputation but truth be told, he just simply a teddy bear to all that had the good fortune to know him. I will always remember the twinkle in his eyes as he would be debating with you on such a wide field of subjects. His devotion to his family was absolute and unwavering and quite frankly, inspiring. Our discussions covered so many of the subjects of the day and it was always a challenge to keep up with his deep knowledge of what was happening in his world but never did he allow the discussions to be anything other than constructive and positive. Our talks were always conducted with the twinkle in his eyes jumping and sparkling. He was a good man and a friend that I will always remember with great fondness. and sadness at his loss. I am a better person for having known Paul Chaput and I know for a fact that I am not the only one so blessed. Rest in peace my friend. You have earned it. George A Hayes.
Condolences to the both of you, Betty & Terry
