We Remember

CHRISTY, Henry “Hank” Massy

June 27, 1941 — June 12, 2021

Surrounded by family, Henry Christy passed away peacefully, at the age of 79, on June 12, 2021.

On June 27, 1941 in Terrace, BC Hank came into this world, he grew to become a kind, generous, and humorous man. Hank was a hard worker, even at a young age, and began working in logging when he was only 14 years old. In 1960, he met Maureen – the love of his life. It didn’t take long for the two to realize they found something special, and after a quick courtship, they were married on February 25, 1961. It also wasn’t long before they started raising a family of their own. At this time, Hank was working in various logging camps. They made a move to Langley, BC and Hank continued to work in the forestry industry. In 1973, they moved to Kelowna, BC to settle.  Hank started at Gorman Bros. Mill in 1973, and he worked there until his retirement in 2006.

After retirement, Hank was able to focus on spoiling his many grandchildren whom he adored.  Other hobbies of his included fishing, camping, and old cars – especially rebuilding them. How he loved music, Maureen and he enjoyed a night out dancing at the Silver Spur and the OK Corral.

His spirit and memory is carried on by his loving family: his wife and his heart, Maureen; his children Wayne (Linda), Kevin (Melody), Ron (Nicole), Jody (Darren); his grandchildren Cassandra, Courtney, Annabel, Daniel, Aliana, Tamara, Henry, Aiden, and Connor; numerous great-grandchildren; his siblings Beth, Bill, Bob, Jim, and Lorne; and many extended family members including Rick & Annette and Marlene & Darryl who are of special note. Those who Hank loved, but went before him include his dad, William James Christy; his mom, Thelma E. Seaton; and his daughter Louise Annette Christy.

Forever alive in our love.

Due to the current pandemic, no formal service will be held. Family and friends will honour him, each in their own way.
