COMBATTI, Gaetano (Guy)
June 11, 1946 — May 23, 2016
It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Guy Combatti on May 23, 2016. Guy passed away at Kelowna General Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Guy was born in Bonea in the province of Benevento, Italy on June 11, 1946. He immigrated to Canada in 1963 to join his sister, Italia.
Predeceased by his parents Giovanni Combatti and Giovanna Quarantiello, Guy will be sadly missed by his partner of 36 years Arlene Rodgers, his sons John (Sue Ellen), Danny (Courtney) and his grandchildren Dylan, Matteo and Jayden, brothers and sisters Carmela (Ciccio D.), Maria (Italo D.), Celeste (Elisabetta), Italia (John), Pasquale (Lisa), Iolanda (Tony), Gina (Jack), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gaetano was a very loving and generous man. He was also a successful businessman who ran Guy’s Paving Company Ltd. in the Kelowna area for 30 years. He enjoyed making his own wine and loved to share it with his friends and family. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and the annual trips to Sleepy Hollow RV Park in Winterhaven, California. He loved his many dogs including Luke, Jesse and Chico which have all passed and his current dog Jake; they brought him much joy.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 29 2016 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.ca. Our condolences to Arlene, Danny, Dylan, John and families. Guy was a great friend of ours, always generous to lend a hand and open to discussion as we walked our dogs in various dog parks or as we sampled some of his renowned wine. He will be profoundly missed. God bless his family at this difficult time.
