Compton, Alfred Charles
June 5, 1921 — September 12, 2011
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Al on September 12, 2011. Al passed away peacefully at Okanagan Hospice House, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years Elaine and sons Ronald & William. Al came to BC from Saskatchewan during the war and was stationed at Prince Rupert Air Force Base. In 1956, he joined Scott Paper (New Westminster) plant and remained there until his retirement. Shortly after retiring he and Elaine relocated to the Okanagan to pursue what they loved best, gardening, playing cards, and entertaining numerous friends and relatives with good food and always interesting conversations. Al is survived by son Barry (Lila), daughters Marjory (Bob) & Lauretta (Lance) along with numerous grandchildren, great & great great grandchildren who will all miss him dearly. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers donations to Kelowna General Hospital Foundation: 2268 Pandosy St., Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1T2 or Hospice House: 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2Z6.
