We Remember
CONELL, Ann Mary
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
With heartfelt sadness, the family of Ann Conell announce her passing on January 30, 2020, in Kelowna, BC at the age of 86.
Ann was fully devoted to her family and unconditionally loved her children Chase, Tim (Lori), Robbie (d.1961), Betty Ann, and Kathie (Chris) Ellom. She was a grandmother to Galen and Teagan (Tim); Angela and Jacob (Betty Ann); Christopher, Jeffrey, Selassi, and Vanessa (Kathie); and great grandmother to Grayson, and Emmett (Angela).
Ann was born in Edmonton to Polish immigrants and spent her young life in small prairie towns with one room schoolhouses, as her father was a section foreman for CN Rail. She enjoyed her lifelong friends from business college in Edmonton and began a successful career, married Bill, and started a family in Kelowna in 1958. They eventually moved north, and she raised her children in Fort St John. Upon retirement, she moved back to Kelowna to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed an active retired life with many good friends on the Westside. Ann selflessly volunteered by fostering kittens for the SPCA, knitting over a hundred toques for the homeless, baking goodies for the Catholic Women’s League, cooking for family, and always looking for ways to help a neighbour. She loved her yard birds and her house cats. Ann prided herself on her family and happily attended many plays, sports, and music recitals over the years.
Ann’s strength of spirit, tenderheartedness and generosity will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Even in pain, she was quick to share a warm smile and concern for the wellbeing of others.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020, at 11:00 am at St Pius X Catholic Church, 1077 Fuller Ave, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC SPCA, spca.bc.ca.
