We Remember
CORDELLE, Grace
December 2, 1923 — February 27, 2023
It is with profound sadness that the family of Grace Isabel Cordelle, of West Kelowna, BC, announces her passing on February 27, 2023, at the age of 99. Grace is predeceased by her husband Derrill; her son David; her parents, Samuel and Annie Sedman; her seven siblings, and their spouses. Grace will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Ian Cordelle (Melanie Dickie), Margot Sentes (Rick Sentes), Drew Cordelle (Lana Ashton); and five grandchildren, Teri-Lynne Battel, Adam, Cordelle and Alexandria Rich, and Reid Cordelle. She also enjoyed a particular closeness with her great-granddaughter, Sienna Rich.
Grace was born at home on her family’s farm in rural Ontario. At the conclusion of WW 2, she was working at Toronto City Hall when she met a newly returned veteran, Derrill Cordelle. Following their marriage in 1947, Grace and Derrill made their home in Keremeos, BC, where the Cordelle family was in the grocery business. Grace was an active member of her church and community. Eventually, the grocery business took Grace and Derrill to various locations in the Okanagan, Vancouver Island, Colorado, and Alberta. Grace had the ability to adapt and integrate into each new community. She enthusiastically worked alongside her family. During their 66 years of marriage, Grace and Derrill enjoyed many travel adventures. Unfortunately, during the last six years of her life, Grace completely lost her eyesight yet remained positive, retaining her sense of humour.
A private graveside service will be held in Keremeos.
