CULBERT, Elizabeth “Beth”

March 28, 1929 — November 30, 2022

On Tuesday, November 30, 2022, Beth passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 93.

Beth was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on March 28, 1929. Beth was not only a proud Canadaian but also someone who was very conscious of her Ulster Scots roots.

Beth is predeceased by her husband Ted Culbert, and parents James John Piper and Annie McNiece-Piper.

Throughout her life Beth demonstrated the commitment to hard work and stoicism that characterized the lives of her pioneering ancestors.  Beth and Ted married on April 30, 1966 in Regina and moved to Kelowna in their later years of retirement.

Honesty and uprightness were qualities that shaped Beth’s engagement with the world and for which she was highly respected by those who knew her.  Steadfastness to her daily duties was hallmark.  Beth was a gentle, kind soul.  She was quiet yet very witty.  She loved to banter and joke around.  The simple things like her yard and garden brought her joy.  As well as oatmeal cookies.  She was always kind to others.  Appreciation of Beth’s acts of kindness will last long after her passing.

Beth is lovingly remembered and will be missed by her family and friends in Canada and Ireland.

The words of the Psalmist David best sum up her life: “The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.” Psalm 112:6

A celebration of Beth’s life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Springfield Funeral Home Family Center, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.
