We Remember
DAVIES, Marit Eugenie (nee Larsson)
April 17, 1950 — July 28, 2014
Marit left us peacefully at home after a brave fight with breast cancer. She was predeceased by her mother Inger, father Eugen (Gene), mother-in-law Cynthia Davies and brother-in-law Eric.
She is survived by her husband Chuck and their two children: Christine Woodcox (Rick) (grandkids Mica, Jorden) and Michael Davies (Alesha) (grandchild Hannah); her brother Kurt (JoAnne) (Tara, Chad) and two sisters: Randi (Dan) (Kelsi) and Rosemarie (Lionel) (Jason, Ryan) also mourn her loss. Condolences to her mother-in-law Gina Larsson and to many relatives in Norway.
Marit was born in Oslo, Norway and came to Canada with her Mom in 1955. Her father Eugen, having arrived earlier, was already carving their niche for their lifetime in Fort St. James, BC.
Marit married Chuck Davies in 1969 and their daughter Christine was born in St. John’s Hospital in Vanderhoof. Son Mike followed two and a half years later in New Westminster, as Chuck attended trade school.
The courageous battle with breast cancer began in 2005, just after a trip to Norway. It was thought at first that with aggressive treatment the battle had been won, but in 2011 the cancer returned. So few are the short months since her hip replacement and now her journey has ended at age 64, after 45 years of marriage.
Marit has been a wonderful wife, mother, Nana and member of our family. She will be dreadfully missed by all who knew and loved her. Rest well Love, and know you are thought of always. Dear Chuck and family, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Marit’s passing. I didn’t realize she was in such a bad way. I have such fond memories of Marit, both working and socially. She was a class act and I admired her a great deal. It was obvious that you both adored each other and made each other so happy. She will be missed. Andy and I will be thinking of you during this difficult time.

Dearest Chuck & Family,
We have such fond memories of you all when we visited Canada in the 80’s. Marit was such a fun, caring, loving and happy lady who looked after us during our stay in Penticton.
God always takes the best first.
We send you our love at this difficult time.
God Bless

Our deepest condolences for your loss. We knew Marit through being a patient at Rutland Dental. We would often converse about the Pandora beads and she explained as to how she obtained them and from whom. One could really tell she really cherished each and every story/individual who gave her that memory. We had many laughs about our great EBay purchases and our unfortunate learning experiences. She was always so kind to our young children and always will to be accommodating. Funny thing how we never shared our same illness experiences with one another. Marit will always be in our hearts, leaving us with very positive & courageous thoughts.
Dear Marit, I will miss you and your laughter. Your laughter and smiles will be my abiding memory of you….which you always had at the ready…. And great glasses!!!
Chuck ,there are no words to express how sad I feel for you in losing Marit, at such a young age. May your lifetime of treasured memories and the love in your heart, carry you through the coming days.
With deepest condolences
Melanie
It really doesn’t seem real that Marit is gone. Marit worked alongside of us for almost 17 years. She was vibrant, had a great sense of humour, always took pride in doing her job well, and was loved by staff, patients, and of course ourselves. We are so fortunate to have had Marit as part of our office for so many years. She became more like family than an employee. We have so many good memories of the time we spent together. Chuck and family – please know that our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. Marit will be remembered fondly always in our hearts. Love Jill and Lincoln
We were shocked to hear of Marit’s passing. Please accept our sincere condolences, Chuck – we know how much you cared for each other. May your fond memories bring you peace now and always.
What terrible news about Marit – my condolences to you, Chuck and your family & friends,
I recall the good visits yrs ago now in Penticton/Summerland when Marit was a smiling, vibrant, welcoming soul. In our lives we meet many people, but there are those who stand the passage of time and their personality just sticks with us – that was Marit.
May she rest in peace.

We were shocked to hear of Marit’s passing. We knew Marit through Rutland Dental Centre. She was always so friendly and cheerful, had a great laugh and a wonderful smile! We will miss her! We wish you a lot of strength in this difficult time and we hope that loving memories will remain. Arno, Gerda, Maryn and Miko Compas
She was a beautiful person, certainly did not deserve such fate. My thoughts go out to all those who lived and loved her for so many years. May you find some comfort with those memories you will cherish and always share, and also that you find some new paths and directions to take you on farther journeys alone, of course with her always on your heart. Gods blessings to you M.D.
Marit always had the best hugs. Near the end she said, “This sucks, it really sucks!” Yet, Marit was, as usual, extremely brave and decisive. Marit always faced life head on.
I once asked her how she could be so practical and strong in very challenging situations. “I don`t know,“ she said, “I must just have an inner strength. We have to believe in ourselves.“
Marit and I did not see eye-to-eye on spiritual matters. Yet, now I see that my big sister was the most powerful teacher of how to live life to it`s fullest. While I dreamed and contemplated, Marit acted and enjoyed!
Marit would say to me, in her passionate way, “If you can’t do anything about it, you just have to accept it, and then let it go!“ I said, “well that`s easy for you to say.“
“No,“ she said, “that`s not easy for me to say. But we can`t always understand things. It is what it is. So just ENJOY life! It`s the only one we get!“
Marit, thank you so much for your wisdom and strength. I love you so much. You are so beautiful. I miss you. Marit you will live on with your wisdom and strength echoing in my heart. Randi
Dear Chuck and family. Our deepest condolences on your loss.
We were very surprised to hear of Marit’s passing. Our most sincere condolences to Chuck and her family. She will be missed.
Randi and all
My condolences to you all. It is so sad to get thiat kind of news about Marit. Although I new her and her mother and father in 1955 and each of the rest of you as you were born. I watched you grow but never saw her after she married Chuck. Her picture was beautiful and showed that she hadn’t changed that much over the years.Best wishes to all,
Joanna Illerbrun
Chuck, I am so sorry to hear the news (belatedly) of Marit’s passing. I still have boyhood memories of growing up in the same Fort St. James neighborhood as the Larsson family in the 1950’s. I remember Marit as a happy, upbeat and kind person. When I spontaneously stopped in to see you and Marit last year (2013) I had no idea of Marit’s medical situation – so I was totally shocked to hear the news.
Chuck, my prayerful thoughts and condolences are with you and your family at this time.
