We Remember
DELANEY, Michael
—
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife and best friend Wendy, daughter: Erin Delaney and her children Bryant, Madison, Dayton, Jacynda; daughter Meghan (Kevin) Kolenc and children Cheyenne and Logan all of Kelowna, BC. Mike grew up in Chatham, New Brunswick. Upon graduation he joined the RCMP where his first posting was in Didsbury, AB. There he met Wendy Berscht and they were married in 1972. Upon leaving the RCMP, Mike worked for Johns Manville and decided to pursue a successful career in Sales and was employed with Intertape Polymer for many years. Mike and his family lived in Innisfail, AB for 22 years and made lifelong friends. During this time Mike served on the Innisfail Town Council for 18 years. In 1995 the family moved to Kelowna, BC where he took up the life of boating. He was involved with the West Kelowna Yacht Club where many friends were made. Mike retired, in Kelowna, in 2010. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and visiting with friends and neighbours. Mike spent as much time as possible at his “Little Piece of Heaven”, a property located near James River, AB. After his retirement, he spent his winters in Mesa, Arizona. Mike was known for his “gift of the gab” and loved to tell jokes and stories. Because of his speaking abilities, it was not uncommon to see Mike with a microphone in his hand. Mike enjoyed life to the fullest and will be missed dearly. A special thank you to the “Oliver Familys” for their friendship, care and support.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at the West Kelowna Yacht Club, 4111 Gellatly Road, West Kelowna, BC on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.com.
