We Remember

DIRKSEN, Beth Eve

May 1, 1962 — October 5, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce that Beth Eve Dirksen went to be with the Lord peacefully at home on October 5, 2024, at age 62. She joined her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Garth; her children, Blake and Britt Dirksen [Beckett (8) and Brenner (6)], Whitney and Luke Dunstall [Eleanor (15) and Pearl (12)], Bailley and Nick Ferguson [Zeke (14), Keziah (12), Izzy (10), and Ezra (8)], and Sydnee and Carson Milligen [Lyra (6) and Dara (4)]; and her siblings Wendy (Mark) Montcalm, Linda (Kevin) Willms, and Keenan (Carmen) Campbell; along with numerous other extended family members.

Beth was born on May 1, 1962, in Toronto, Ontario, to Peter and Eva Campbell. She grew up in various cities throughout Ontario and B.C., with most of her teenage years spent in Kelowna and Lake Country. After some time away at Bible college in Regina, SK, and art school in Nelson, B.C., she met, and then married Garth Dirksen on April 21, 1984, in Kelowna. Together they settled in Glenmore and raised their family in a house they designed and built 36 years ago.

Beth had a passion and a knack for anything creative, from drawing and painting in her younger years to decorating, gardening, and designing as an adult. Occasionally she even worked alongside her husband as a design consultant with his contracting company. Beth was often inspired to look for new ways to craft and create, whether for a home renovation, or sewing clothes and dresses for her girls, or crocheting baby blankets/booties/sweaters. But more than anything, Beth passionately loved being a grandma. She took every opportunity to snuggle, shower with gifts and love, swim with, and pass on her knowledge of crafting and baking to her grandkids.

Sadly, Beth was diagnosed with stage 4 Breast Cancer on May 30, 2022. After months of in-hospital and at-home recovery and rehab, she was fortunate during ongoing chemo and treatment to still have some amazing times spent doing the things she loved, making memories with her grandchildren and family. After her final hospital stay, she was moved back home into palliative care on August 23, 2024, with the continued and boundless care of her husband, until her passing on October 5th.

The family would like to express their extreme gratitude for the love, care, and support both Beth and Garth received at the Kelowna Cancer Clinic, Kelowna General Hospital, and with the palliative care team.
