We Remember
ENGEL, Margaret “Grace”
—
Grace passed away on July 17, 2023, surrounded by family, at the age of 91.
She is survived by her children Lynne and Larry (Goldie-Anne); grandchildren Aaron (Veron), Adriene (Jayson), Cara, and Curtis (Dana) and their mother Merle; great-grandchildren, Braxson, Uzien, Vashtee, Colby, Brooklyn, Nolan, Emily and Robyn; her sister Shirley, sisters-in-law Edith, Martha, and Sally and many dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Allen; parents Elvyn and Maggie; brother Gerald and her sister Audrey.
Grace was born in Wolseley, Saskatchewan in 1931 to Elvyn and Maggie Lander. She was a prairie girl for a large part of her life, and it was on the prairie that she raised her family, kept the household running, and did the books for her husband Allen’s trucking company. Grace and Allen moved to Kelowna upon retirement, where she enjoyed canning, juicing and dehydrating all the delicious Okanagan fruit. She will be remembered as the Queen of Christmas, for her infectious giggle, huge heart, and her determination to feed everyone. There wasn’t anything Grace couldn’t make, except pancakes.
She is deeply missed and will never be forgotten.

Aunt Grace, you will be missed! I loved your laugh. I don’t know if we ever got together without a laugh or two. You made me laugh, I made you laugh, it did not matter. That is one of the reasons you lived a good long long life. You knew how to laugh. You had a big beautiful family! Great kids and grand kids and now I read Great grand kids!
I am sorry that we did not see much of you these last years. Covid seen to that, then, when you were in care, it was hard to get in to see you. Sorry.
Larry, Goldie, Lynn and your families. It should hurt a some to lose a loved one. And the only reason that it does is that you loved them!
