We Remember
FORRESTER, Doreen (née Dawson)
December 30, 1925 — August 31, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on August 31, 2019 after a brief decline in health. She is survived by her daughter Sharron, granddaughter Shelly, great granddaughter Aubrey, and grandson Sean.
Born Doreen Margaret Dawson, on the farm in Cadillac, Sask. on a very stormy night December 30th, 1925. She experienced several occupations from store clerk, to factory worker, to dental assistant. She had a passion for cooking and dancing and did a lot of both in her life. When she met her second husband Mel, her dreams of travelling the world came true. They loved their winters in their home in Mesa for many years.
Doreen was always a loving caring woman and had friendships that lasted a lifetime. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
By Doreen’s request there will be no service or Celebration of Life. She lived life to the fullest daily. In lieu of flowers she would want everyone to just be kind to one another, enjoy life every day, and give someone a hand up, like she always did. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.
Doreen was such a wonderful person, we miss her already. She gave us many smiles and lots of chatty fun on our Garnett-Forrester family gatherings over the years in Duncan. Our condolences to her family. She was a good one. Allan and Debbie Ottosen
HI – Peter Davison (Beatty Forrester’s son) Doreen was an awesome person!! Having only connected a handful of times in this life — Calgary Stampede (1986), Ottawa(1990s) and the most hilarious bit was sneaking into a hotel buffet as she was worried I wasn’t eating enough when they were in Toronto(early 2000s) visiting family. They made me feel so welcome when I was around both Mel and Doreen. She was so positive about everything and I will miss her.
Peter (as Lois and family would call me — including Mel — Little Peter)
We only got to know Doreen over the past few years late in her life but we really enjoyed her company. We will miss her…we hold very fond memories of all the dinners we shared together at Sharron’s. – Helmut + Sue Herwig
My husband & I as well as my brother, Lawrence & sister in law, Marian had many good times at the Canadian Legion dinner dances. My husband, Chet who has recently deceased really enjoyed her company at all the dances. They were able to join us at our 50th anniversary party a few years ago. I live in California but tried to visit recently while in Kelowna this past month but she didn’t feel well enough. I am sad to hear of her passing, my condolences to the family. Yvonne Kendall
We had many great times at the Canadian Legion when I’d be talking to Mel and Doreen. Doreen always made sure to pass me one of the treats off her plate, making sure to look after me. She remembered me kindly by calling me often after my own wife passed away. She was a very kind lady that will be missed. My condolences to the family. Lawrence Sargenia
It happened so quickly; can hardly believe that there will be no more chats! We have known each other for so many years from Cadillac, Sk. (I was her teacher for one and half years). She was always special to me! My condolences to Sharron and family. Lillie
