HALLISEY, “Neal” Cornelius
—
July 1936 – August 2022
Neal passed away peacefully at hospice, Friday, August 5, 2022. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Mars; sons Corey & Jason (Samantha); his granddaughter Olivia, who was the “Star in his sky”; and his many family members and close friends. Neal was predeceased by his brother Richard.
Neal loved to teach and spent many years as Principal at numerous Kelowna elementary schools. Prior to his Principal years in Kelowna, Neal and Mars spent a few years as a teaching “team” for the Department of National Defence in Germany. This allowed them to travel & explore extensively at their leisure, having adventures & forming friendships in Europe that last to this day.
Neal LOVED fishing and camping, finding fossils, playing “Geezer Golf”, collecting olde books & “treasures he might need one day” at yard sales.
Neal REALLY LOVED the month of February when Hawaii was “home” taking “magical mystery tours” around the Big Island exploring new beaches to snorkel & swim with the turtles.
At Neal’s request, there will be no service or flowers.
We give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dan Obedkoff and Dr. Peter Andrew, as well as the hospital and hospice staff that gave him care and compassion.

I have fond memories of my teaching days with Neal. He was an amazing administrator as well as a good friend.
My sincere condolences to the entire Hallisey family (Mars, Corey, Jason, Samantha and Olivia). It is so hard to see loved ones suffer and I hope you take solace in knowing that Neal is suffering no longer. The sadness of missing him is what his loved ones now must bear. I hope you share the many memories you have of him and let your friends and extended family provide support to you as you continue live without your beloved Neal. He had such an amazing influence on so many people professionally and personally that his legacy will not be forgotten. You are in my thoughts during this sad time.
My condolences to Neal’s family. Neal used to come knocking at my door every fall to see if he could have some walnuts from the tree out front. The answer was alway “yes”. He picked walnuts and helped with raking the grass around the tree. He was a great conversationalist and I loved the way he always called his wife his bride. This joyous man will be missed by many. RIP Neal. It was great to meet you.!
Sincere condolences to the Hallisey family. The tributes written by Neal’s many friends, colleagues, and former students speak so well to the fine man he was and the positive impact he had on so many lives. My thoughts are with you Mars, Corey and Jason and your families.
