We Remember

HOUGH, Elizabeth
November 6, 1939 — February 12, 2025
Elizabeth “Lena” Hough passed away at the age of 85 on February 12, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of love, resilience, and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, John “Cam”; her brothers, Bill and Orville; her sisters, Irene and Doris; and many other family members and friends. She now goes to join many loving family members who passed before her.
Elizabeth and John’s journey began with a classic blind date that blossomed into a lifetime together. They built a close-knit circle of friends and a life filled with adventure. Independent and stoic, Elizabeth embraced the outdoors, whether cross-country skiing, exploring nature, or enjoying her daily walks. She had a deep appreciation for Indigenous art and found beauty in its rich history and storytelling, and was a passionate reader, especially thrillers, always eager for the next great novel.
Never one to back down in any debate, Lena will be remembered as the one with the strongest opinions and a fearless take on the world, especially in politics, and the one who always kept our conversations lively.
She also liked to entertain folks with stories about her experiences in The Northwest Territories and the Yukon.
She will be missed beyond measure, but her strength, love, and spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Friends and family will each honour Elizabeth in their own ways. No formal service will be held.

Cam, we are both deeply saddened with Lena’s sudden passing. She remains our cherished, kind, opinionated friend with the contagious, outrageous laugh. She will be missed and remain in our hearts forever. Wishing you peace and comfort. Karen & Ed
Deepest Sympathies Cam. Her obituary says it all. Will remember her for her feisty spirit but a heart of gold. Rest in peace Auntie.
Missing our sister and 2nd union leader, we will never forget your warmth and appreciate your guidance. Thanks Cam for the excellent care and comfort you gave Lena, you 2 were a great Team.
Dear Cam, I was broken hearted to hear that Auntie Lena has passed on. I trust she is catching up with my mom (Victoria), Auntie Likaria and now Auntie Doris. My heart is aching, But when i think of them meeting up once again I can hear their laughter and see their smiling faces and that that brings thoughts of warmth, love and kindness. 🩷 Sending you love and hugs.
Love Kim
