We Remember
HUNTER, Darren Mark
November 20, 1967 — October 11, 2024
Darren Hunter went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2024, at the age of 56. Born and raised in Kelowna, BC, Darren returned to his hometown just a year ago, cherishing the opportunity to reconnect with his roots.
He is survived by Susan, his wife of 32 years; son Troy; daughter Jenae; mother Lyla; brothers Darrell (Cheryl),sister Sherry (Roy), Darrick (twin), and Bruce (Dena); parents-in-law Albert & Lorraine Pope; brothers-in-law David (Jackie) Pope and Steven (Nadine) Pope.
He was predeceased by his father Roy; brother Brian; sister Wendy; and brother-in-law Danny Pope.
Darren was a man of many passions. He found joy in biking, kayaking, and exploring the great outdoors, with a particular affinity for all things water—an appreciation passed down from his father, Roy, who instilled in him a love for boats. This connection to nature was further nurtured through camping and survival skills passed down from his father, although his fondness for bonfires was uniquely his own.
Darren’s love for the Lord shaped his life and guided him through his journey. He had a deep spiritual connection that resonated with those around him. His creativity shone through in his passion for landscaping and gardening, where he took pride in crafting beautiful outdoor spaces, including building ponds for friends and family.
A true lover of life, Darren was always busy with outdoor projects, embracing the beauty of the world around him. His nautical decorating style reflected his deep connection to water and nature.
Darren is survived by his loving family and countless friends who will remember him for his vibrant spirit, dedication to his passions, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Canada.
