Betty was born at her home in Sudbury, Ontario on October 22, 1945. She moved to Sioux Lookout, Ontario in 1957 where she resided until she and her husband Giles moved to Kelowna, BC in 2015. Betty was a schoolteacher in Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay. She was an active member of the community, contributing her time to many different organizations. She LOVED tennis, golf, curling, and the people that were important to her. Betty and Giles wintered in Mesa, Arizona for 25 years. Betty made friends wherever she went and lived life to the fullest. Betty was an amazing grandmother, mother, sister, wife, aunt, and friend. Her compassion and kindness impacted us all and her motto was to “be humble and kind”.

Sorry to hear about Betty. We both moved to Sioux in 57 and our dads worked for the Dept of Lands and Forest. We all looked up to Betty as she was such a great lady. She was my favorite babysitter and she was the hamburger cook at my 8th birthday. I was so proud to say Betty was part of that birthday where we had 60 kids attending.

Giles and family, We are so sorry for your loss. Our lives have truly been enriched by knowing both of you. We shared many friends and good times in Mesa. You were a couple that truly exuded special friendship and we will always cherish that. RIP Betty .
I knew Betty’s little sister Linda better than Betty but I always saw her as a hip and beautiful lady. She had class. I remember her first day teaching at Sacred Heart School. “Hi Betty,” She asked me then if addressing me by her first name was appropriate? I didn’t get it. She was always Betty. Still is. R.I.P.
