We Remember

JAGGARD, Doris Darlene

June 26, 1962 — February 17, 2025

“The day has come we cannot be together, keep me in your heart and I will stay there forever.”

It is with heartbreak and sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Darlene Jaggard, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Flin Flon, MB, to parents Vera and Laury Parent, Doris was the baby sister to nine siblings. When Doris was 5 years old the family moved to Summerland. There she thrived, developing into a beautiful, kind, compassionate, self-assured woman.

Doris had an enthusiasm for life and easily made friends wherever she went, nourishing lifelong schoolmate friendships and many more on her journey. She always made time to create fun and memories. Always listening and providing an insightful take on things.

She made her way in life with a real sense of direction and adventure. Doris had a longstanding career with ICBC, but she would say her greatest accomplishment, pride and joy, came from her relationship with her son, Alex. She was a very proud momma bear, friend, and loving mentor to Alex. Sharing many adventures, dinner dates, and motherly advice.

Doris loved life through golf, travel, bicycling, dancing, parties, road trips, and sharing fun times with her siblings. Especially “the three musketeers” Neil, Norm, and Doris.

Living with cancer presented challenges and barriers but she still lived life to the fullest of her abilities. She amazed all those around her who were healthier. Everyone loved Doris as she would ignite laughter and good times whenever in her presence. Such a tenacious, courageous, beautiful person.

She is survived by and will be profoundly missed by her son Alexander Jaggard; her former spouse, David Jaggard; stepdaughter Donna (Dan) Fox; and grandson Cailan Fox. She will be so missed by her siblings Laury (Carmen) Parent, Ted (Wendy) Parent, Ron (Glenda) Parent, Rose (Peter) Chudobiak, Fred (Lee) Parent, Yvonne Carlstrom, Neil (Mary) Parent, and Norman (Carola) Parent; countless cherished nieces and nephews; and beautiful friends she made everywhere she went. Doris was predeceased by her parents, and sister Doreen Canning (d. 2019).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, 1297 Glenmore Drive, Kelowna, BC.

We would like to thank the many, many healthcare providers who supported Doris throughout her 8 years living with cancer. She never gave up and your encouragement was most appreciated. Thank you to the professionals and staff at the Kelowna Cancer Clinic, to her caring physician Dr. Richard Van Der Ross who has been her trusted support all the way. Many supporters have touched her life through this journey, and we thank each and every one of you.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kelowna Hospice House.

I worked with Doris at the Langley ICBC office and the Kelowna office. She was always smiling, happy and willing to help anyone who asked. She had a long battle with cancer but always remained upbeat. Her courage was unending.
We just spoke a few weeks ago about getting together soon with our friend Diana, she just wanted to wait until she was a little stronger. We talked about the upcoming golf season and how much we both loved the game, no matter how frustrating it was from time to time.
Goodbye my friend. I hope there are many golf courses to play where you are and you have many birdies. RIP Doris
