JAMIESON, Donald William (Don)
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
With sadness we announce the passing of Donald William Jamieson (Don), born in Revelstoke, BC on September 28, 1938 and passed in Kelowna, BC on April 28, 2016 after a 7 ½ year battle with cancer. Don is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Thelma; his three children of whom he was very proud: Coral (Larry) Field, Tracy Ruzicka and Rob (Chiho Hikawa) Jamieson; also his three grandchildren Elaina (Matt) Filgate, Alex Field and Jay Ruzicka, each of whom he thought the world of. Grandpa took in as many of their school and sports events as possible. Don is also survived by his mother-in-law Mary Doherty and brother-in-law Barry (Linda) Oliver. Don was employed by OK Telephone, followed by BC Tel (now Telus) retiring after 35 years. Don and his friend Ellis Wheaton then started D & E Communications which they ran successfully for many years. Don and Thelma loved to travel and were able to see many parts of the world together. Don was involved with minor ball for 17 years, and was Manager of the Safety Team at BC Tel for several years. He enjoyed curling, bowling, and golf. Don was involved with community policing in Glenmore from 1997 to 2008. Don was an usher at First United for more than thirty years. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
