We Remember
JOHN, Helene Madelon (née Hollett)
—
Helene John passed away at home on August 10, 2024, after a long illness.
Helene was the oldest of seven children born to Lorraine and Hedley Hollett in Manitoba. The Hollett family moved to Lethbridge, and finally in 1952, they moved to the Village of Montrose, BC, where Helene grew up.
Helene enjoyed summers at Deep Lake, with her children and friends; watching her brother Gerry play baseball; and attending local hockey games. Helene and her family made Kelowna home 35 years ago, and the John household became the place to go for both the Hollett and John families. Dave and Helene always had a full house, a boat on the lake, a chair by the pool at Manteo, and made everyone feel welcome. If there was a reason for a party, you can be sure that Helene was there to instigate the plan, and her husband Dave was there, making her plans come to fruition. Even in her last days, Dave was kept busy making her wishes happen.
She leaves behind her darling husband David; son Todd Hollett and daughter Jennifer (Ben) Kuntz; and grandson Ben Jr.; as well as her sisters, “the original Hollett girls”: Carol (Wayne) Cournoyer, Sharon (Rob) Ross, Brenda (Tom) Nedelec, and sister-in-law, Jan Hollett. She will be missed by David’s children, Billy and Clinton John and their families; and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & -nephews who are now too numerous to name individually, but who loved her greatly. She was predeceased by her parents and her three brothers Ron, Bryan, and Jerry.
Her optimism, generosity, and enthusiasm will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her life will be celebrated in a small service at a later date.

Sorry to read about Helene’s passing. We worked together at the Ministry of Social Development at Landmark. I recall Helene’s infectous laugh and her good nature. She was always willing to raise issues, respectfully, which I appreciated. 🙂 I recall her energy level beaming when talking about her weekends spent with family. Condolences to the family. Liz
Sending our deepest condolences. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers ❤
Helene and I have been friends since elementary school and I’ve always considered her a dear friend. As children we had an open door policy and frequented each others homes on a daily basis. Her parents were wonderful and were surely proud of the wonderful woman she was. Always generous. Sharing her condo when I arranged a reunion with school friends and Dave cooking for us is a special memory. She was so proud of her children and always put family first. She will be missed.
My condolences to Dave and all of Helene’s family on her passing. I really enjoyed working with Helene as part of our team at the Ministry’s Landsdowne office. We all loved her calm efficient way of keeping us on track. She was always willing to share her warm welcoming home for get togethers that have left me with so many fond memories. My warmest thoughts to all of you during this difficult time.
Deepest condolences. We worked together at the Ministry; wonderful person. At least Helene is no longer suffering.
I first met Helene when she came to Kelowna Respitory Club at the Dorchester after seeing me on the local news. Speaking on COPD and exercise. Soon she joined us at Steve Nash gym till covid forced us to exercise as a group on zoom.. she always was a positive person who gave it her all. Shelley Rowe
Oh no. NREBDA! Iwe are so very sorry to hear this but know that Helene is with Jesus and her loved ones in Paradise, free from all illness now.
My condolences to you Dave and all your family members as well. Anyone who knew Helene saw a kind, gentle and wise lady. She has left us in a physical sense only and we shall cherish our memories of this special lady and Cousin
